Anybody using this? Used to be a good tool. Nowadays spammers and virus creaters use this actively.

If you have Limewire, do a search on any random topic. It can be your initials and the first 4 digits of your cell no. Immediately files will popup with your search as MP3's or EXE's etc etc.

Same story on eMule
Oh and torrents are also now the playing field for the virus coders.
VMWare workstation is your friend :)

I must say you must know how to search with LimeWire et al., these days! Sort of became a craft thanks to spammers and other BS. AltBinz is kinda cool though. If you have no filters, even a search for Adobe will yield a result (amongst others!) of Adobe has shuddering orgasm or something like that :D

I stopped using Frostwire because of that. Same with eMule. The computer I was using it on couldn't afford to go down, so I did the safe thing.

This isn't to say that these networks are useless, you just need to be careful and maybe even use a virtual machine. There's still plenty of good data out there.

stopped using it years ago... in fact I stopped using those thingies when Kazaa was still the rage! I did get all my Buffy episodes from Kazaa though... in those days an episode was 80 Mb... very poor quality. Now I own the entire set on DVD.

oh... and I did also get a lot of viruses from Kazaa

i find frostwire useful if i am looking for a particular mp3 or video. never use it for stuff like series etc. actually i should give that a try and see what can be found.

eMule is still very useful to me- the only thing is now I pass every single thing I download through a virtual machine to check if the things are malware infected or not.

Frostwire = Limewire without any sort of copyright protection attempts. I think it's also more the equivalent of Limewire Pro.

i used limewire again last night but it seems alot of songs i have downloaded are corrupted. its starting to get irritating.

if it's purely music you're after (and especially the more non-mainstream stuff), you can't go wrong with Soulseek ;)

are all these programs similiar and only show songs on other peoples computers?

sorry man what i mean is why would Soulseek give me more non-mainstream stuff and limewire not if all they do is peer into another persons computer and pull the songs out? i hope i am making sense, cause i use limewire but only have a basic understanding of how these programs work.

Whats the real difference between limewire basic and pro?

Nah, I get what you're saying ...... Soulseek just seems to have a network of peeps who like more non-mainstream stuff ;) Most of the music I listen to, can't be found on torrents and other P2P clients.

thanks uncle MH now i understand so i guess that means those people have Soulseek on their computers too. sometimes i want a south african band but cannot get them on limewire and have to resort to other methods of tracking the songs down.
