Hi all,

Not sure if this is in the right section, but I recently had a phone line installed at home and have ordered the 1 mb all-inclusive package from mweb. I got an SMS on Friday saying telkom received the order and are busy processing it.

More or less how long does it take for the line to be converted?

I've cancelled my 8ta to move to ADSL and have already been internet-less for 3 weeks! :p I'm getting withdrawls.

Anything from a few days to 6 months.

This is Telkom we're talking about....

If your regular line is already installed and active it shouldn't take longer than a week a most.

@grav80 It might be Telkom but there are still a few, probably like 10, people there that take their jobs seriously.

If you dont know anyone that works at Telkom then it will take a few weeks, I knew someone and I just gave him my reference number and within 2 hours my ADSL was working.

All inclusive? Phone MWeb as they are responsible to speed things up.

Mweb just gives the usual disclaimer: "You were advised that it may take up to 15 days".

I got an SMS yesterday saying telkom sent them the order number and will let them know once it's done, alas, yesterday it was still not up, hoping that it's up when I get home today :(

That's the issue I have with the ISPs' all inclusive deals - you no longer have any control or right to query directly with Telkom. Everything must flow via the ISP.

it takes about a week, don"t wait for mweb to contact you, just have your dsl router plugged in , should check if it sync on there

Yeah - I actually went for the inclusive deal because I didn't want to have to deal with Telkom and Mweb have generally been good to me over the years, now, I'm not sure.

I have it plugged in :p and dread going home everyday to a DSL light that's not on.

EDIT:

Got home and it's up, posting this from mweb adsl :)
