I saw something on Cybersmart. I'm a bit confused. There's an option to buy data only, if you already have a line. And theres' an option to start afresh, e.g the R179, 2GB + line. The only payments for this is R275 once-off fee, for modem, delivery etc. Now wha I don't get is they say this is 'not a cotract', so does this mean you can abandon it any time? I thought line rental was compulsory even if you don't bind yourself to an ISP.

Yes you can abandon it at any time, but most likely you will have to either a) return the modem, or b) pay the costs for it in full according to the T&C for those packages.

With line rental, are you referring to analogue line rental or the ADSL line rental? Remember that you need an analogue line to be able to get an ADSL line (the ADSL line uses the analogue line). The analogue line rental of ~R130pm is not included in the above R179pm.

$hit, too many hidden costs. We already have a phone line a.k.a analogue line at home. So lets say I get this ADSL package, I wanna use it for three months so that's R179 + R130 x 3. So I decide I wanna stop after 3 months, do I continue to pay for ADSL although I've abandoned the Cybersmart deal or what?
