Line speed

Hey Guys im curious, what line speed have you got from telkom and what is the speed your getting from a speed test.

does anyone know what telkoms terms and conditions are as far as the guaranteed speed of a 4Mb/s line?

For a 4MB line I get about 340KB/s to 450KB/s. on my downloads, which is more then enough for me at the moment. Plus the only guarantee I know of the line is on their webpage saying "FASTEST INTERNET CONNECTION"

You won't get much more than like 420kB/s on a 4Mbps ADSL line.

There are no guaranteed speeds on ADSL. The ISP's usually have a high contention ratio too for ADSL users. The unshaped accounts do have lower contention ratios, which means you're more likely to achieve the maximum speeds most of the time.

i get around 100kB/s on a 1mbps line

I have a 4Mbps line, speed test gave 3.43 Mbps (local). I did a download yesterday about 100MB file, got a 3.6 Mbps

I usually download at 400kbs on my 4mb, Redafrica account (basiaclly Web africa home). Been very happy downloading 11.5gb between 11pm and 7am

There is no guaranteed line speed - its sold as a up to 4Mbps line.

I've got a 4Mbps line - syncs at 3Mbps due to bad line (FU Telkom!) - I get a max of 320Kbps
