So I've upgraded my 384k line to a 1 meg line with Web Africa.

How many days will it take for it to be activated?

/facepalm

All they do is change a setting from a drop down menu :(

Open a support ticket with Webafrica to monitor progress, maaay just speed it up but ask nicely :p. Look for the Reps here"WAroop & WAmatt"

I did it through ISP then called telkom and had them do it as well.

if telkom tell you it's still set to 386 then you know your ISP is the problem...

So can I just phone telkom even though I haven't been waiting very long?

Do I need a reference number or do I just need to tell them that I've upgraded my line with WA but my speeds haven't changed yet so can you sort this out?

Just give them your phone number, inform them the line has been upgraded and ask them if it has been implemented yet. If they say no ask them to do it (they did it for me while I was on the phone).

if your line was not ordered through telkom they might tell you that only the ISP can authorise changes on the line. ive come across that from time to time.

otherwise telkom changing your line speed is as other people said is just a few clicks on a drop down menu. it takes seconds. the ISP most probably has procedures for initiating a line speed change and depending on how long that procedure queue is, is what you will wait..

I've just phoned telkom and they said that my SP will do it. I guess I have to wait 7-14 days then. Anybody on Web Africa has received their upgrade any quicker?
