How much pain and suffering they had to be going through to take so drastic action. The pain and hurt of the family and friends left behind. People who think those who suffer from suicidal depression do it out of selfishness clearly don't understand it.

An apt analogy I read the other day - it's akin to people who jump out of the window of a burning skyscraper. It's not that they aren't terrified or wouldn't really prefer not to do it, but at that point you really feel there is no other option.

Not like they sit at a table calmly making a pro/con list and decide to abandon their families.

I did exactly this, with a crap load of tears and could not go through with it. In the moment I passed out from excessive crying

The aftermath for my family scared me while at the same time I did not want to live anymore at all.
The weight of this conflicted mindset tore me apart. Actually it made me numb
 
It's ridiculously sad. Sorry but even more so with those with means or options.

Sorry, someone jumping out of a burning building, like 9/11, has no resonance or remote similarity with this guy, he had exponentially more options.
 
By options you obviously mean money but sorry, money never has and never will be able to fix suicidal thoughts and feelings / depression ...... To say so really just shows that people don't get the scale of it if they haven't been at that point themselves.
 
I mean means, and if you have millions lying around, yes.

The power lies in the individual. No amount of dollars will change that, rich just have more options to effect the change.

Sry, I have little sympathy here. I enjoyed Linkin Park a lot early on.
If this guy cant get his suit in order what chance do the rest of us have on the breadline when 'issues' arise.


Nah, 2 wives, 6 kids, bucket loads of cash and he does a runner because of himself. pff

The problem with these "the songs were indicators of his coming death" theories is that Mike is still alive and in this particular case - Chester didn't even like the song all that much.

I didn’t really mean as an indicator to suicide but rather just the general depressive demeanour many artists face.

Basically the music isn’t all happy clappy so you can expect the people behind it aren’t all that happy clappy.

As I said, I don't think you understand it. It's not the same thing as falling on hard times (for whatever reason) or just being very sad about something. It's existential dread that consumes everything. The burning building analogy is about explaining how that person's reality is at that point.

I once heard it described as the emotional equivalent of watching paint dry.
and not having sympathy has a greater negative effect.
if we have no sympathy for someone who we think had it all, and could easily get help, then what hope is there for the person suffering who does not have it all, and really feels like no one will care if they are gone?

if anyone feels like they are in a position where they wont be missed remember, you can talk to someone. please.

Chester Bennington’s episode of Carpool Karaoke to air next week

Popular rock band Linkin Park announced on Thursday, via Facebook, that a Carpool Karaoke episode starring the late Chester Bennington will air next week. Bennington filmed the show with fellow bandmates Joe Hahn and Mike Shinoda back in July, shortly before his passing.

Unlike other episodes of Carpool Karaoke, which are exclusive to Apple’s paid streaming music service, this one will be shown for free on Linkin Park’s Facebook page next week. They didn’t give a specific time, but the post says “this time next week,” so we’re guessing early Thursday.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, Carpool Karaoke is a reality entertainment show that features musicians and celebrities singing and having fun while riding in a car. It actually started out as a short segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden, but in a quest for original content, Apple purchased the rights to it last summer, and has since spun it into a full TV series exclusive to Apple Music.

It’s unknown if Apple will post Bennington’s Karaoke episode to Apple Music, or if it plans to just let Linkin Park stream it for free via Facebook. We’ll update this post when we have more viewing details for the folks who want to tune in.
