However I'll probably start by getting the 20 inch Samsung Monitor for my PC first. Then at a later stage the touch for the media center pc
good idea.
well i'm gonna do the same.
have a small touch screen that you select what you want, and it plays on the big screen - and then the touch screen turns into a remote control interface with play/pause/skip 1 minute/rewind 1 minute/movie position bar/etc...
i'm intending to code this at a resolution of 640x480, so it supa smooth.
so, you can go 15" touch screen if you want, but its gonna be running at 640x480. (also, you will need to have a 3d card with 2 outputs, like dvi+vga on the media centre pc)
hmmm....a good idea would be to build this into a nice lazy boy couch!! LOL
ok, and PS:
it will be a port from the tarantula engine, but with iPhone-like scrolling and made exclusively for touch screen use, with 2 displays.
I have a media center PC and at the moment I see no need for a touch screen, I use my remote so a touch screen would be a waist to me. Rather spend the extra on a bigger screen I'd say.
I have the Microsoft MCE remote(works on Linux but irKick has not been updated so it's limited to certain apps), but logitech makes some fancy but pricey remotes you should have a look at them.

how does your remote work though?
if you press buttons does it do the same as press the arrow keys, enter and esc?
Yes you navigate using the remote(kinda like Dstv but better looking), to launch windows media center I press the green orb then sit back, use the arrow keys, 'ok' and 'back' numberpad used as keyboard etc.
Which version of Windows Media Center are you running?
no, i mean, what keys does it emulate? or does it only work in windows media centre?
cause i would like to support remote controls too in my media centre too.
I think buying AMD atm would be your best bet.... It seems like rumours are going around that AMD will be releasing a new series of CPU's that will work on AM2+ boards and just require a BIOS update...
Where as if you buy Intel, you will be stuck on an old socket... Im kind of dissapointed that I opted with Intel (Q6600) even though they are better atm... But you never know if AMD pulls out some awesome CPU's and then it would be a cheaper upgrade)

Hey Lino
I would be careful with your sound card, Creative may not release drivers for the Audigy for Windows 7, but if I'm reading right, Win 7 will have same driver model as Vista, so time will tell.
If it's for home theatre, look at the new Asus card that just came out, or for gaming, look at the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude.
Otherwise your system looks good to go.
I used to always love Amd, hence the reason my current system is the 3800+. However after reading reviews my new processor E6750 even beats the Amd 6000+ with flying colours
In that case, I see no reason not to opt for it, especially considering the good price I am getting.
I only need the PC to last me for another 14 months.
