Linux games

Ok I have now added "minecraft". I will leave "minetest" there for those who do not want to pay for the game.

Is the graphics for CS: Source on par with Windows?

After playing CS: GO in WINE I have a hard time adjusting to the inferior graphics of CS: Source. I just cannot seem to get into the game after getting used to CS: GO.
:(

Other than that I have had a time or two where native Linux CS: Source hangs. It will hang for a couple of seconds and then carry on. No crashes so far.

I'm sure CS:GO will be ported to Linux as well this year. Valve is busy porting all their games to Linux by the looks of it.

Just to add to the thread. I managed to get steam running on my pc running Mint 14 KDE. Installing the ATI driver was quite pain free in comparison to what im used to.

Busy downloading team fortress 2 :D

I have the half-life orange box, if they decide to port portal for example, would I be required to buy it again or does that "license" cover windoze and Linux installs?

It covers both installs.

When they released CS:Source I got it in my list, same with HalfLife 1 and CS 1.6, didn't have to buy anything to have them show up in my list.

Also, when I bought Serious Sam 3, it showed up on both my Windows steam and my Linux steam.

That is good news! :)

Yup, I can confirm what Tinuva said. If your username and pass does not change then you should not have to worry.

When you're shopping in the Steam games list, look for the SteamPlay icon:

One license covers unlimited installs on any of the supported platforms using your account, indicated by the little icons next to the SteamPlay logo.

Seems like Valve release Counter-Strike Condition Zero before the weekend as beta. Seemed to work 100% fine for me.

Now if only CS:Go and HL2 can be released. Never finished HL2, and play CS:Go on a daily basis.

CS source is runinng awesomely, but HL is not working all that great, I just get stuck at some places and cant move forward or backward... :? Basically happens as I get off the train.

CS: Sources is running terribly on my side.

It would randomly freeze for a second or two and then carry on as if nothing was wrong. When in the middle of a fire fight this can be a problem.
And it is not a Linux problem, it is just a badly written code and there are hundreds of suggestions on fixing the issue. It seems to only affect Windows Vista, 7 and now Linux. It may be some 64bit addressing gone haywire, do not know, but I have not yet found a solution that works.
