Linux Mint 15 preview

Will install this in virtualbox tomorrow at the office and test it out. I see it's based on ubuntu 13.04. I tried 13.04 and it crashed and caused all kinds of k@k.

If Mint is better, I might just migrate to it

Installed, looking good, but only been running for 3 hours.

I tried 13.04 and crashed it when I enabled all the Compiz special effects. I re-installed, ignored Compiz and it works fine. I'll try to play around with Mint 15 RC this weekend.

Can you guys test if sound works over HDMI to a TV? I tried it with the latest stable Ubuntu and it did not work. Had to go back to the latest stable Mint and had to change something in the config file for it to work there also. ATI card.

I had the same problem with 13.04 and ended up rolling back to 12.10

Sound works to my HDMI monitor from my laptop, but it's an onboard intel chipset.

It was driving me insane.

EDIT: I know I saw somethig in the release notes, found it. Think this will help you.
If your HDMI Sound output does not work out of the box, you can try the following solution:

In a terminal, type the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/alsa-daily
apt update
apt install oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms

Cool bea eerrrr...cool banannas lol

I must remember this. :-)

I see the final version have now been released. Will download it and then see if it works. I should be able to tell if sound works via HDMI by just running the live CD?
