Linux Noob gone crazy

About 8/9 years back an elderly lady (over 80) asked me to build her a 2nd hand PC, I got all the spares and threw Mandrake on it (Mandriva today). After configuring everything I asked my wife, who is a PC noob in general to show her a few things since I found a noob teaching a noob is way more productive. She used the PC and never really had a problem. This was her first PC and she could do whatever she needed (email, write letters, and browse the net).

Sometimes our attitude gets the better of us, that is why we are not willing to learn something new.

Yeah also read that and now can't remember who wrote it.

The terminal only really comes into play for advanced users trying to do advanced things I would say.

I generally use it simply because I'm used to it, in fact having to use the GUI would be the frustrating part for me.

Beside being for advanced users, I find the terminal is more exact and faster, considering that you can type in exactly what you expect it to do rather than clicking around a GUI which often misleads or confuses people.
