Hello fellow la lucian, i'm still waiting for any news at all on wtf is being done. All i want is some damn info but i can't get any from anybody :(

I'm on the 031 572**** exchange in Durban North/La Lucia and the internet is now unusable after 6PM because the exchange is so congested my latency goes through the roof!

Electroe and lilggg please find other people in the area that have the same problem.
We need to organise and sort something out for Telkom to catch a wake up and fix our problem because it seems this is not a very isolated event.

It happened on the same day that all 1mbps ADSL users were upgraded to a 2mbps line. :(

I live in Kenilworth, apparently my line was upgraded from 4mb to 8mb a few days ago. Yesterday I had international speedtests of between 0.5mb and 3mb. Browsing was jerky and my ping in online games was through the roof. Today things were fine again, int speedtest showed between 5mb and 6.5mb, but since about 1am its down to 0.5mb/1mb. The speedtest needle sits on 0.01mb for a while and then suddenly jumps to 4.5mb or so, leaving the average at about 0.5mb. Changing the cap doesn't help at all. Is this definitely an exchange issue?? Is there a way to know when your line will slow down?

Hi, well i know of about 2 or 3 others on mybb and there are 4 complaints on hellopeter about it.

http://www.hellopeter.com/search-re...e=90&datefrom=&dateto=&user=&advsearch=Submit

I also made a thread http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/478724-La-Lucia-Congestion

I've tried getting answers from telkom but as usual they say nothing is wrong with your line etc etc and no problems on their side.

Edit: theres 2 new hellopeter complaints today oh it's 4pm and pings are around 600ms as well.

Ok, today I've called telkom and they said the following. "You are currently syncing to an 8mb line, we can try switch you to 6mb and see if that helps". I've done this about an hour ago so I'm not sure if its fixed anything, but they said that if syncing to 6mb doesn't work then I can revert to the original 4mb line, and if the problem still persists THEN report a fault on it.

Eish typical telkom :( There's so many congested exchanges, we need to make telkom more aware if possible. Either that or we switch to another exchange and get telkom to run new lines.

well you're right about the upgrades screwing us over an agent on the phone said it herself, she also said it would clear up by the end of last month but then again santa clause exists to some people

PSN friend says he also nagged telkom on his side but they didn't do anything yet so I'm not sure. Anyway I'm tired of waiting I'm on holiday soon and want to use the most out of my net.

Well this is strange... tonight for the first time in a long while, Bryanston is NOT congested.
I'm seeing first-hop pings under 10 ms much of the time, and only occasional packet loss. Telkom, what did you do?

Guys, I called telkom and asked if I could be changed to a new exchange.

Do you think it's a good idea before I go through with it?

Every1 keeps telling me it's not possible, what did they say? And what exchange would you be moved to?

the agent said he'll take it up and let me know if it's possible and I'll recieve a call, if it is then I'll find out which exchange will be my new one and find out if that's congested aswell.

Cool, so it looks like they aren't going to be doing anything about the congestion? Let me know what they say, cos ill try move it too if they can do it.

I logged a fault with Telkom and I'll see if they ever get back to me. I'm not in Durban at the moment so I hope they actually do something...
