List of congested exchanges?

lilggg and alternate

I received a call a few moments ago from yet another clueless agent lol so I had to explain the problem. He said two others have complained in my exchange so there are people already working (doubt it) but he said he'll get them to call me.

Not sure where it'll go from now and whether I'll have to be put onto another exchange.

But FML the closest exchange is either the one past virginia airport or by umghlanga rocks and that's FAR.

Hmm interesting but probably BS lol. Thanks for trying i know how frustrating it is trying to get anything out of them. Guess we just have to hope more ppl complain until they have had enough of our complaints. Not sure posting on hellopeter is any use cos it seems they just escalate and then ****all happens after that.

interestingly enough, this one friend of mine on psn lives a few minutes away from me, and when our exchange got congested so did his but he's on another exchange. He gets about 5meg dl which isn't bad at all considering how far we are from his exchange. I guess he's lucky he was put on that exchange because he tells me that exchange isn't congested anymore.

Yea this exchange bussiness confuses me. Because according to broadbandstats.co.za i am on the durban north exchange, but the la lucia exchange is connected to that one or sumthing, but my number is 031 572 so i assume it's just a mistake. The durban norht exchange i think is the one near the airport i'm not sure. I've even driven down william campbell which is where broadbandstats says the la lucia exchange is but i couldn't find anything.

I recently moved my line over to afrihost hoping it would be easier to get faults sorted out but now i don't even know where to report a congested exchange because there's nothing afrihost can do about it and telkom probably won't do anything cos my line isn't with them anymore.

hey man, That's the same exchange he's on, you sure your line is still congested? cause he's fine enjoying 4bars on callofduty without me :D

But yeah I'm on the 562 exchange which is the one by the mall, really close to it to be honest. It's a shame it's congested.

Someone else i spoke to said broadbandstats.co.za was saying he was also on the durban north exchange but he definately was on the la lucia one according ot telkom. So yea i don't trust broadbandstats. My ping at the moment are spiking between 100 and 400 so definately not fine here :( I stay less than 1km from the mall so it would be retarded if i was on the durban north exchange.

I've gone past it so many times and never noticed, i've been looking for boxes on the side of the road not a building, at least now i know what to set fire to. Or maybe just spray paint FIX YOUR EXCHANGE on the wall.

Liggg just got of the phone with some wise ass agent or official (couldn't care less) he basically said

ADSL is a best effort service and that they can't do anything about it. He said that replacing the system in our area wouldn't be any help because of the sharing of the people (he said we should blame high bandwidth downloaders) and that the new system would just amount to the same problem. That's it, he didn't offer any good news or reassurance or anything. He even said switching to a new exchange is a no go.

The thing that bothered me the most is after all that he told me the best advice he could give me was to "KEEP TRYING" bwahaha wanted to burst out laughing over the phone and scream what did he think I was doing and what else CAN I do? Idiots at telkom I promise you.

Anyway that's my rant in a nutshell, my advice to you liggg and alternate, don't have any hope in telkom, they are out to get money and having the petty "ADSL is best effort" as their excuse. South African standards will never improve with companies with this sort of attitude.

Anyway liggg planning on making home made bombs and planting them on the exchange, you with me?
(just a joke everyone)

You better amend that statement mate...

We all know how you feel, but that can get you some trouble you can do without...

No disrespect to anyone on the forum. Just expressing my views. As a customer I've been pretty understanding with telkom, when they had a problem as long as they where actually doing something I was happy. Now it seems like nothings being done, and as customer with the money I'm paying for a service that isn't being delivered you can pretty much understand why my views are so negative towards the company.

Although I did rant when I was a bit over tempered so I do apologize for that.

No bud, you misunderstood...

I fully agree with you and you're entitled to rant due to the service not being met..

I was just cautioning you about the comment regarding the "boom" stuff.

That could get you some real trouble..

For the rest, many of us are feeling the same frustration...

My advice was just to amend the post, not remove it...

oh haha :D Yeah was just kidding about that notice my little love note there :p
I don't even know how to make home made bombs, though would be interesting thing to learn to do.

Regarding the "Best effort" line...
I have a 4Mbps line that gone to **** in the last 3 months. The techie in my town, Kirkwood always try his best to sort it out, but he has established that the problem is at the exchange as he tested my line at the exchange it self and are getting the same stats as we were getting at my house.
My local speed is usually good after I've had a look at things (3.40Mbps), but I'm only getting about 1.30Mbps on intl. Ping are 200 and 400ms respectively. Don't understand why my intl speed has dropped so much. It used to be the same as local.

My point is that I'm paying for 1Mbps - 4Mbps. I was always guaranteed a minimum of 1Mbps. So that is when I start to seriously bitch, as soon it falls beneath 1Mbps. Has that changed?

Wow they really know how to spew bull****. That's pretty much the response i got when i tried. Blah blah too many heavy downloaders, that's no excuse, you think overseas they would accept that bull**** response.

I know bro, but with the minority of the exchange (us) only complaining odds are telkom won't see this as important. Wish our exchange users would also complain :/ maybe then we could actually get somewhere.

I check hellopeter everyday hoping there are more complaints, i see there's another one today. That makes about 7 in total since october, not enough i don't think. However i think most of them are from guys on mybb.

Telkom does not respond on HelloPeter afik?
So that might explain why so few people make use of that option?
