LIVE | Apartheid flag judgment

The part I understand the least on this Planet, and this flag is just one tiny example on the planet, is that people will eventually fight over anything they can be diversified about after the steam has build up, from a drink, food, cars, opposite sex, race, politics, colour choice, work, man any divertion you can think of. The part I don't understand, is why is our 2nd most important control system actually still=Politics. Politics is without doubt by design diversifying, it cannot be otherwise, thats its core of existance. Our main control system is Money, and that is mostly one monetary system, untill recently when cryptocurrency was born, but even it cannot survive without chuncks of a legit monetary system, so not sure where that is going. Citizens are fighting each other not abstractly understanding the behinds of it.

Now my question is:Is it a pype dream to think all your people will agree and be happy, if you turn around and diversify them by control. Please explain this, whoever can....Is there money to be made out of diversification, or what on earth would be the motivation for such a system-?

it is a fair and just ruling.
yes the flag should be put in museums. 90% of people who have an old flag have it folded up in some box hidden and forgotten. 9% of people have it up in a bar or lapa because it has been up there since way before. and there is likely a bigger new flag.

the problem is as always with all things the 1% who fly it simply to get a reaction because they are in fact fundamentally racist. (this is personal experience from growing up in Boksburg)

the flag itself did nothing wrong, and did not 100% represent what people who are flying it now say it represent,or what the judge and the nelson mandela foundation say it represented. sadly some people could not play nicely with their toys so the toys should be taken away from everyone.
Sure, I respect your opinion.
Personally, I find the ANC flag utterly offensive. I find its gratuitous display a demonstration of terrorism, and a clear intention of all flag bearers (and those who intentionally and gratuitously display its colours) to be hurtful and harmful, and that it incites terrorism and harm, and promotes and incites hatred, violence and terrorism against and amongst all black, coloured, indian and white South African people.

I guess that I will just have to suck it up, like I have over the past 30 years, and develop a thicker skin (in the interests of promoting a rainbow nation). Your "feels" matter more than mine, for some reason.

Sure, and they just increased the value of it in the underground markets.

Ja sure, let me meet oom Sarel behind the abandoned Waterval Boven butcher shop with a wad of cash and biltong in exchange for the old flag. I have a client with a lot of money who REALLY wants one.

If there is an underground market for the old SA flag then maybe maybe it should be banned.

Personally I’m not surprised.. this forum has all the evidence one can ever need wrt why it should be banned (they merely restricting use though.. Ie questioning it’s use) . Ie its all fine and dandy to go after the ruling party and gov on issues but how much of what’s discussed is that vs people adding in their bias with an agenda?

And that’s exactly why the flag is getting banned much like the nazi symbols are. People use these symbols as a way to publicly incite. Honestly I think leave it, allows everyone to know who the poephols are directly (which is nice as I hate people who are hide behind anonymity) but I guess this sucks too due to the incitement.

Now the fun thing.. see all the response where people go, yes but look what others are doing.. watch these okes on the road . Same story..

I think old toppies here should just chill as "This order is not a banning order against the old flag, says judge"

Order is specific against gratuitous display of flag. No one is coming after your bedsheets and check your cupboards and confiscate your joy and pride.

Isn't this case related to the "black Monday" protest about farm murders?
So, the only thing to come of that protest is the banning the old South African flag?

Glad to see South Africa has its priorities straight.

Love it, i agree here. We more worried about the flag being shown than the actual guy who was murdered by the barbarians. I mean forget the guy who died, lets worry about the people who were offended by it.

I actually think it's a neat looking flag, what it stood for can be debated. The flag wasnt a symbol of apartheid, it was there long beforehand. Those who forget history, are doomed to repeat it. Taking something from 1928 and trying to apply it now and getting offended by it is retarded (enjoy that word you PC SJW's).

We should rather spend all our time and energy trying to save the baby coming out the mothers womb than court battles because someone is offended.

I get that there are people who want to say sorry or need someone to blame for their own failings over the past 25 years but that's on you, not us......I was 10 when apartheid was abolished so that judgement that says "White" this and "white" that can go **** itself, take it up with the idiots who created apartheid not me. I pay my 41% tax.

I wonder how soon we will loose monuments like the Taal Monument or the Castle or Groot Constantia. Let alone quite a few others. Perhaps its best the western cape with its colonial past becomes independant before the rest of South Africa drags it down. Look how well Singapore has perfomes over Malaysia. And with Cape Town becoming fancier and fancier soon their housing prices will be tenfold over the rest of the country so only the wealthy will survive.

What did the old flag have to do with murders? How was it relevant?

Seems like whatever the intention was for using the flag backfired

I see some comparisons to the Germans banning the swastika, which was a symbol adopted for a very specific group with a very specific purpose.

The 'old' flag. Was it a flag created to symbolise a specific race group and their superiority or was it a flag that was a symbol of South Africa mostly led by the Afrikaner, also adopted during a time known as apartheid?

But yes, the flag has always been seen as a symbol of apartheid by black South Africans (and probably some white South Africans also) , specially those who were victims of the time, and for good reasons so.

Some South Africans use the flag as a symbol or reminder of their heritage and others use it as a symbol, similar to the swstaika, to one day re-establish (well they wish anyways) the old order and bring back old rule where whites see themselves as superior, the almighty white.

We can not ignore the evil and darkness the old flag represents. Yes it is part of history, yes it was used during a time of white rule, the Afrikaner, but part of that was a disease, an era that made other humans lifes less than that of a dog because of the colour of their skin.

There is no way to justify it. Just because you don't have a problem with it, doesn't mean you should ignore the horrific era it represents and to a majority of this country a reminder of a dark era.

Of course the broederbond is gonna jump on their waggons and defend it, make as if it is not such a big deal. That is to be expected. No point in arguing there.

There is no place for it anymore in South Africa. Finish. Klaar.

And one day we will do the same with what ever symbol of oppression is adopted or created next. History seems to repeat itself, the pawns just replaced with a different colour. Humans will never learn.

Die Stem and the old South African flag has **** all to do with my culture.
I don't care if they ban both.

Who is stopping you from packing up and leaving?

I see someone already asked but I will too. What is your culture?
