I pretty much put everything in the fridge after it is opened. My Weet-bix, sugar that is left in the pack after filling the container by the coffee, bread, any biscuits ..... pretty much everything goes into the fridge. That way no nasties can get in or attract ants etc.

Should should never put dry goods in the fridge it actually absorbs moisture which in returns allows bacteria to grow, putting bread in the fridge isn't going to stop mold growing on it either, slows progression but you still going to end up with mold, lots of bacteria isn't sensitive to cold temperatures either.You are also opening your self up to more cross-contamination.

Airtight container or vacuum sealer is more then enough.

Coffee should also not be placed in cold temperatures, it actually draws out the oils in the beans, which in turn makes the coffee bitter.

Fridge is there to slow the progression of bacteria and it spoiling, not to stop progression, that is why there is a freezer function which almost stops spoilage and decay.
 
Listen, OP was very clear, that specific unnamed species of cock roach is alien to his surroundings perhaps even to earth? Who are we to assume he/she/it even requires oxygen? It could be a spying device for all we know?

The fact is there is no oxygen in the packet, period.They use nitrogen gas to make packets puffy, just like simba chips.
Which means there is physically no way a roach would have survived PERIOD. Even if the packet was compromised there are quality controls in place that check that packets aren't leaking.


So op whether you like it or not you have roaches.

Well I don't know. Found a spider in a packet of Simba crisps once. Was sealed and it was the exact yellow of the crisps. So it's possible for insects to survive as they use very little air but roaches probably don't have a long enough lifespan to survive for months from production to liberation.
 
Question was it alive simba chips also get packing gas, specifically nitrogen gas.Unless the packet was puffy it had a leak considering packet gets handled roughly often.The packing gas removes all the air.

Cockroach cannot climb a cupboard to the height at which the bag was stored at : False

The following is logically obvious:
The cockroach would need air to breathe, water to drink
OP has no stated Entomology degree or education
Access to bag is True. An unsealed box lid is unlikely to present much of a barrier to a determined roach
Opening in bag is big enough to let the roach out, so it was big enough to let it in.
"Surfaces Cockroaches Can Climb. Unfortunately, many of the materials used in home construction — wood, drywall, brick and stone — offer cockroaches plenty of gripping surfaces, enabling them to climb vertically and walk upside down on a ceiling " from a quick google search.

Explanation 2: Cockroach entered the bag after the box was opened and a hole cut in the bag
Assumptions:
Cockroach was able to get into bag through hole: True (evidence in video) and if it came out through the hole, it could go in.
Cockroach was able to climb the cupboard: True

Therefore, the simplest explanation is more likely seeing as the evidence of the assumption is wrong on many levels while the simpler assertions hold to be true.

Remedial action: Suggest OP climb off moral high horse and buy tupperware for sealing opened goods, at the very least get a washing peg.

1) Determine how many assumptions and conditions are needed to make the explanation believable while told around a camp fire. Add more.
2) If an explanation or condition is plausible, throw it out and create something more illogical
3) Make up batschitt crazy evidence to support wild theories as proof. Ignore reality
