Yes and its growing everyday.
I guess having peoples numbers for me does not neccesarily mean I would socialise with them.. Or even have meaningless chat.
I have over 1400 numbers, I would hate to have to manage all of that. Not that I don't need those numbers, I do. But not for a messeneger app.
Ok no more whatsapp BS.
Tnx
So essentially @ the end of the day its not that liveprofile is actually better, its simply that it means you don't need to actually go through your phonebook and delete all those contacts that you've probably never even spoken to in any case.
Your basis on it being better is simply because in your situation whatsapp doing exactly what it is supposed to annoys you, there is therefor nothing actually wrong with the app, its you that's the problem.
I checked out LP myself and its still got a long way before it can even hold a candle to WA, and the convenience that makes WA good, and in YOUR specific case a pain, is the exact reason its so popular. The simplisity and wider support is exactly what the vast majority of people want.
LP came in too late in the game to make a real impact unless it offers more, and rite now the only more it offers is pretty, but in the end there is a minute fraction of people who would choose aestetics over vastly superior functionality and simplicity.
Factor in that each new user would have to go throigh the tedious process of convincing all his/her friends to now move from a perfectly good, easy to use and already installed application within witch they would have to manually add/invite all their contacts that already exist in WA and there is no way that any person would be able to achieve a 100% social migration to an application that requires more effort and has a larger exclusion field.
Even if only a single person in an entire social circle uses symbian the logical step would be to not change as even a single exclusion would essentially end up waisting money. Even if you only sent that person a sinlge message a week or even a month, that's 79c+ you just threw away.
Or the alternative is you have both applications installed on your phone and you end up with shorter battery life, waisted resources and increased data charges.
I got a few friends to download it to test and its nothing special, it does not even have full support, the audio alerts don't work some of their handsets so they don't hear an incoming message, as for functionality, it has far less than WA, LP does not have the option of sending voice clips, images, videos or current location, some if not all of which are useful to all cellphone users.
It will be quite some time, if ever that LP becomes a real competitor even if you only compare it to pingchat which also excludes symbian, @ least it still allows file sending. From a support + functionallity POV, LP is rite now on par with kick which no longer even supports blackberry, but does at least have the basic functionality of a true IM client.
