Load-shedding will continue: minister

Wow didnt this happen 6 years ago...., Eskom clearly cant learn anything. Privatize this sector ASAP!

So we can sum this whole article up as "everyone called us on the wet coal story so we'll say it's loss of some units."

And what I'm getting here is that there is so much rain that our coal is dry but not enough to fill a dam.

If they can't cope now then we're screwed in winter. This is all very reminiscent of 2008. I've got a feeling this is not just a week long thing. Methinks we're back to the good old dark days.

And when the current round of load shedding is done we start to enter winter and guess what.... more of the same....

Are people finding they are sticking to the City Power schedule?

To all those with laptops and smartphones before the cell towers go down, hi.

16:00-18:30. Just when businesses close down and finalize the transactions of the day, and people go home to eat.

Nope, our offices in both Cape Town and Johannesburg have been randomly load shed at times that bear absolutely no relation to the published schedules. Don't know why they bother.

Our electricity was only out for 5hours today. Nothong serious.

It is ok, I (and many others) work for myself, that is not eishkom's problem...

The problem is we have a weak public that allow gov to get away with this with minimal questioning of the root causes (ie bad leadership)

State-owned-enterprises with problems to the core: Eskom, SABC, SAA, Post Office, Broadband Infraco, Telkom, SANRAL ...

Problem now is fuel is way more expensive than in 2008, the gennies are getting expensive to run :(

I'm not sure if this has been discussed but can Eskom be taken to court in a class action lawsuit for failing to provide a service that has been paid for? Consumer Protection Act?

Don't know if that would work, technically you aren't being billed for electricity when it isn't being used, such as when load shedding takes place

Aaaand the paranoia kicks in the voice in my head is saying " what happens if your on an operating table , and because fuel is so expensive the generator dies mid incision"
