Just heard about this site on 702. It uses the eskom schedule and mails you when your area is about to be shed.

Its privately run, and has nothing to do with eskom.

cool site but my problem is where i live only a part of the town goes down and other areas remain unaffected...

This Eskom schedule- can it be relied upon though?

Dont know, they said its mostly accurate... but that you must not shout if things go wrong. David O Sullivan did mention he would speak to eskom about this site and see if there could be better lines of communication.

Go to this site if you want to recieve email confirmations regarding the load shedding planned for your area. My areas have no load shedding listed but we'll see later...

Yeah, I signed up for this about a week ago. So far all of the emails have been wrong, but since they're false positives* I'm not complaining.

*ie: warning me of impending loadshedding, and no loadshedding happens. Not sure if that's a false positive or negative, though.

Oh yes, I'd rather know and be prepared for nothing, than get caught out.
