Loadshedding damages

We should be allowed claim this from tax including any purchases to do Eskom’s job.
 
Gate, garage and alarm batteries all going t*ts up after the last round of LS. Methinks the chargers these units use to keep the batteries at float are absolute garbage and that's why they go south so quick.

Am wondering whether it's worth it to attach some cheap(er) smart chargers to the batteries and keep them at better values?
 
in those 6 months how many loadshedding bouts did you realistically get? maybe 40? maybe 80 tops? running the battery down like what 10-20% at a time, the numbers dont add up, seems like poor quality battery
It is the combination of LS cycles that prevent the battery from recharging properly combined with heavy demands before reaching full charge that kills even a high-quality battery very quickly.

They are all trickle chargers based on the assumption that all they are required to do is keep the batteries topped up. Not supposed to have to drag a battery back from 10.7V at death's door to full capacity 3 or 4 times in a 24-hour cycle.
 
Gate battery's ****ed like most here, not even 6 months old.
Not concerned about surges, Cape Town's grid seems pretty solid, never had any appliances go poof over the last almost 2 decades we've had this ****, but always turn off my PC before loadshedding anyway.

Yes, they all have k*k chargers that basically just keep the battery topped up but cannot charge it properly. Got a decent one from the china store for R100 to properly charge the alarm battery.

More spikes I reckon. Did check my alarm via babyware last night, it wasnt moaning but I probably need to do a offline and check the discharge rate.
 
Hmmm actually I see in Babyware I can specify the charge current......

Need to check what the max C is it can handle but the current recharge rate is ridiculously low, 350mA I think.

Well I can finally add one to the list.

Work alarm battery has greeted, and it was a big one two 65AH just could not handle the 3 times a day LS.

Don't think many could, so what I did do with my 9ah was hook it up permanently to the inverter over those days just so the battery never went off.

Argh that still grates me about Electromansa instead of saying perhaps I'm right they actually had a fight with me.
