Pretty sure there was a previous thread but can't find it now. Whats the damage tally folks for goods hurt by the shedding so far. Should be some damn recourse on this.

* Alarm battery ( six months old since last round )
* Gate battery ( purchased in February )
* Old Server PSU not so happy.

very suspect that your alarm battery only lasted 6 months

Nah, second one, it lasts fine but they get whacked with load shedding every time. And my last wednesday session was every 2 hours with a 2 hour gap from 10pm to 8am.

No major appliances or anything, I have those on "protection" or unplugged but obviously can't do that with the battery systems. The server psu moans because it normally runs 24/7, so its not used to being constantly powered down and off, even gracefully.

in those 6 months how many loadshedding bouts did you realistically get? maybe 40? maybe 80 tops? running the battery down like what 10-20% at a time, the numbers dont add up, seems like poor quality battery

But I have unplugged most expensive equipment for the past week. (PS5/Xbox/4K TV and so on)

We slumming it till power back to normal

I wouldn't count batteries as load shedding damage. That's just from being discharged and recharged so frequently.

I do. I'll make sure everything is off before load shedding hits and switch on once power is back. Some devices will be off all night.

-The status LED on one of my Ewelink switches no longer works
-Battery health on my work laptop has gone from ~90% to ~87% from the extended hours running on battery
-Something with our fridge went wrong and it ended up defrosting everything overnight. Put it on an Ellies Fridgesafe and it's been fine since (turning it off and on brought it back online)

Oh, yes, I forgot to add the TV to my original post. Now I switch all plugs and geyser off at the mains when load shedding hits. I only switch on after 10 mins or so when power returns, that way you avoid the surge.
