Loadshedding not happening per schedule sometimes

Hi, does anyone know why there isn't always loadshedding according to schedule. They will schedule for 14:00 for example, UT it never happens.

30% pass rate comes to mind.

The problem I have with it is the following:

14:00 the power should be turned off but it is not.
14:30 ok no load shedding let me turn on my PS5
14:47 Load shedding happens

They might not shed you if their is enough loss in a different area. If for instance a substation blew up in the neighbouring area. The don't need to turn you off as well because the required load is low enough.

Since the ‘new’ loadshedding we were skipped once, but it was allegedly due to Eskom doing maintenance which required power to do so or so it was explained on social media. Our schedule starts anywhere between 1-30 min late, not that I complain, but I cannot power everything on backup power, so it messes with my routine at times. At other times loadshedding starts 10 min early, and in other instances its duration can continue way past the scheduled slot.

God save us from City Power.

We had our last night shift last night. The last 2 nights they turned us off with half an hour to go in the official load shedding slot. Judging by complaints on Twitter I have a sneaking suspicion they turned off the wrong blocks. Later in the night I wakeup to find the power off at 23h00, it came back on shortly afterwards. I don't know when we went down. If it was one of those infamous trips that City Powers' equipment are so fond in taking or they put us off at the wrong load shedding time. They didn't put us off for our early morning slot though. Tonight, we were thankful to be out of the night slots. No more starting generator, stopping generator and waiting to end up in the darkness. So of course our power fails for a short while before 21h00.

During stage 4 load shedding we can easily have a minimum of an hour and a half extra added onto our load shedding over the day.

I was checking City Powers twitter account tonight and they didn't even know we are on stage 3. I wonder what stage they were turning people off.

Same here. For some reason it was 16:00 to 20:00 instead of 16:00 to 18:00.

Yeah the fault is Eskom thinks 15 and 11 looks the same

The other day they flicked the power on and off probably 7 times in the space of 20 mins before finally cutting the power.

Ah we had something similar in block 11 this week.

We have not had loadshedding since friday because apparently when they turn the power back on it doesnt come back on, so there is a fault.

That doesn't matter here in JHB, they'll shed you, even if you already don't have power

Directly serviced by Eskom. Our loadshedding time is always to the minute or about max 10 mins after scheduled start time. Comes back during that 30 minute window too. Usually 10-15 mins after. Running sorta like clock work. Last year was a different horror story. Think all the part replacements they had to do solved our area issues

Normally we're also taken off on time and brought back within the 30 minutes, 95% of the time

Because this is Africa... If a senior manager doesn't respect other people's time enough to be on time for meetings and other arrangements, how do you expect an Eskom employee to switch power on and off on time...
I mean there are usually other more important tasks like chatting to the lady next to the road, lunch, tea and naps that sometimes take preference.
