Hey. I've got a Cybersmart 3Gig Account
(Yea, I know that you arent allowed any other accounts on the same line when you with Cybersmart ;) )

BUT

What would/could/do you do with say the 30Gig local account from WA or OpenWeb or whoever...?

I want to know what there is locally to do. To see if it is worth looking into a local account.

Thanks guys

Well first of all, you can use it to access the IS News Server and download to your hart's content, furthermore you can also utilize it for online gaming on local servers. Thats what I use my 30 GB local only account for ;)

Local is of cause the way to go, I use the WA 30gb local package (on my 2nd one) and I download from the IS News Server, you can also use it on local torrent sites and for online gaming (in conjunction with your int account) because some games use INT access to upload stats and stuff and then while playing you use the local account (games like Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, America's Army etc)

Ok cool. This sounds like a plan. I'd prob need to get one of those Billion Routers to split the two accounts right? I'll search around other posts to look for the best local deal

If your current router supports bridge mode, then all you need is to install the RasPPPoE protocol, download yourself a copy of Route Sentry and away you go, no need for the Billion Router.. :D

Does it complicate things that I have two PC's connected to the router using the internet?

Have you seen WA website. It tells me only one connection allowed. Flip
And I'm gonna bet my house that Cybersmart don't allow multiple concurrent connections

off topic, in bridge mode, how many connections are supported? Can we go more than 2?

Where do you live? I'd like to take ownership and move in next month. :p

Cybersmart do allow concurrent connections (from the same premises).

I'll just edit my last post :D I don't remember saying that.

O... But WebAfrica doesnt on the IS ones... Does Openweb?
This is looking better and better... C'mon local account.

Question, hope im not hijacking a thread but I thought the IS local only accounts were not shaped. Where as SAIX ones definately are not.
It seems from checking all the various IS resellers that they wont commit to saying whether they are or not. Does anyone know?

Rocket-Boy, I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure IS local is unshaped. Slow speeds from the news server is not really shaping, it's just too many uers ;)

So what's the best local only account to get if you want news server access, SAIX or IS? And for local torrents / p2p?

If you want newsservers then the SAIX one is better which is probably just because there are less people using it. The reason there are less people is cos its so much more expensive than IS! so its a case of SAIX is faster but way more expensive. Price vs quality i spose?
