Local bandwidth story?

Remember its got be a local site by IP. Just cause it says co.za doesnt mean its local.

Its a pity you have to first use up all your cap before the local bandwidth counter starts. Maybe its something they will look at during the testing phase.

What Do you mean used you first 3GB? @Scorpion

Say you have the normal 1 gig or a 2 gig or like me a 3 gig SAIX account (which includes international bandwidth) These amounts make up your initial allotment.

Lets work with the 1 gig account. If you browse a local page or an international page, while still under 1 gig of usage, it all counts towards that initial 1 gig. i.e. there is no difference between local and international traffic, it all adds up. Only once you reach your 1 gig limit will you be capped internationally and then be open to the "uncapped local"

So if you want access to the uncapped local you have to cap your international first (i.e. your 1, 2 or 3 gig account). So you can find uses for it but it is very much a less than ideal situation.

So we have one more week left to make up for all the past and future frustration. Me for one, am downloading local, to my hearts content, while it lasts.

This uncapped local story truly will be meaningless once certain local servers start crawling at 5k due to overuse.

And anyway we are only downloading Thabo Mbeki's address to the nation and public domain home videos of Jacob Zuma in the shower.

Think I missed a step here, where do you get one more week from?

Scorpion, I think by December it should be sorted but might be wrong, not sure myself as the news Press has not released a date yet maybe we should know by this week. if it's actually going to take affect if not we might expect it to take place next year... Not sure myself because I'm considering doing a line upgrade from my current 384 kb/s to 4 meg dsl.

O ok so it was just a prediction then. Was wondering because I hadn't read anything that hinted at a date yet.

Hi.

I also have a Telkom 1Gb account. My local downloads did count towards my cap but when I reached my cap I could still download local though. My international just stopped working.

Thats the way its supposed to work. Local+int counts towards your cap. When you are capped you can then only browse local.

you guys are so lucky! I aint got no free browseing just paying! It makes me
