I have a CentOS 7 Hypervisor with a local (and accessible) NTFS volume that I would like to present to a QEMU VM running Windows 10.

Would I be better off building a Xen or KVM VM instead? Slowly but surely making my way through the Linux thing, hence the Windows VM for all the stuff I haven't figured out how to do with Linux yet.

Not sure. You're pretty much asking what flavor popcorn we prefer. It might be entirely different to ones you like, but let me say "KVM". I have my reasons that fits my situation / preferences. Might not suit you, so maybe Xen? *shrug* difficult to tell.
