Try these Broadband and Network Speed Tests!

You must have JAVA installed for both of these test. The first one is short, the second is longer. Make sure you shut down all other downloads on your network. The second one is a very comprehensive test and will give you all kinds of cool feedback.

Geez people are stupid. Do they really trust local companies to afford sufficient bw to support speed tests? Why would you call in to report a problem if one isolated server gives you a bad speed result - surely the fact that everything else is 'fast' is a good indication that there is a problem with only that server..

I actually created myself a script to download an obscure 250kB file from a local and international ftp server.
