Local Wii Distributor Confirmed

looks like importing a NTSC console is looking more favourable. Considering Core will rip us off with the games as well...

Core will not bring in all the games though so since they have strong competition in that regard the prices should be normal...

Don't worry we will all kick up a big enough fuss if they try and rip us off... I have confidence in them... so far ;)

Yay:D:D:D! Do you know when they plan to launch it Gav? *crosses fingers that it's R2500*
The 360 Core costs the same price as the Wii in the UK so it wouldn't surprise me if they are the same here.:(

I hope they bring all the top DS games(if they are bringing back the DS) as the games in Toy 'R Us 'R crap.

They gave me a 99% assurance that we will be able to pick one up at rAge...

Wii Price

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, but Nintendo pretty much abandoned South Africa sometime last year. My brother worked the games counter at Reggies and said Nintendo basically just stopped shipping out any GameCube and DS games (hence the horrifically poor selections of games at most stores).

I can't see them trying to enforce anything on Core since it seems to me they really don't care too much about the smaller markets, especially since demand is so high overseas.

Face it, our fate is in the hands of Core, not Nintendo. If the price is above R2500 I'm going to get mine from overseas (with a wack of GameCube games to tide me over until some killer Wii titles arrive). I'm just hoping Core don't pull a Ster-Kinekor on us (see Playstation).

IMO if Nintendo withdrew from SA they did it because their old local distrubutor was up to ****... Those guys never advertised anything and didnt expend much eneregy at all in their distrubution of Nintendo Products.

Nintendo used to be in SA but I htink there are a number of reasons why they have left us in the lurch. IMO one of their reasons for not coming in sooner is becuase couterfeits. SA has good anti-counterfeiting legislation but the police force is not very good at enforcing it. You will recall that inthe early ninties, there were Nintendo NES consoles around. But also there were all those Golden China products. All those videogame consoles from China where they crammed 2001 games onto a single cart. There's a Nintendo vs Golden China court case, actually quite interesting. Nintendo would not ahve litigated in SA if they were not serious about the market. Despite the court findingin their favour, all the counterfeits were still readiliy available. Thats why the SNES and everything after that never really hit the SA market in any official sense.

Ah well Core really sucks! Stock is always an issue on Mac's. I usually wait like 2 odd weeks for something from them at a minimum.

Be prepared for a lot of "Worldwide Stock Shortage" responses from them. In fact I bought another Mac on zastore.co.za the other day and I'm yet to receive even a bloody email from them.

So if it's Core why is the nintendo.co.za domain still held by " NPC Electronics (Pty) Ltd t/a Panasonic " ?

Don't forget the small print, way down at the bottom - looks like you need to give them a R50 deposit to secure your pre-order.

It's not very visible - it'd be a pity if anyone missed out because they didn't see it down at the bottom of the email.

I'm not gonna pre-order a Wii right now anyway. Too much of a backlog of 360 games to get through until the end of this year.
