Local Wii Distributor Confirmed

R2800?!

Sorry but that's a bit rediculous. The Core group big mates with Ster Kinekor or something? ;) That means the 360 Core is already cheaper than it! I really want to get one but I agree BC What games warrant that price? The R2800 worth of 360 games (or PS3 games for those that way inclined) makes the device even more overpriced.

Have you seen the cost of the games? Start at R550 and go up.......

Methinks we are going to see a vast market in chipped Wii's and pirated games in SA. You can already get a chipped Wii for a little more than that, with games and then pay a negligable cost for the games therafter. But of course piracy has nothing to do with pricing.

Well done core / Nintendo.

I was expecting it to be a bit cheaper as well but it's selling for 180 GBP on Amazon.co.uk which isn't such a big difference.

One thing to take into account is that the GBP price is with 17.5% vat. So the local distributers are taking a nice 3.5% profit in addition to extra amount.

I just use "xboxenomics" ;)

If MS can bring their consoles and games in at an effective R/$ exchange rate of 9:1, why the heck are the others charging 11:1?

I just went to BTGames - they've added a few games, but the price of the console is now R2899!
