The new local distributor of the Nintendo Wii is The Core Group...

This was only finalised this morning so they have not put together their press release with all the details and what not yet, but I gave them a call and they said we can expect the Wii to be at rAge this year.

This should hit the mainstream press this afternoon most probably.... or later in the week...

So how much is it going to cost... that's what I want to know..

Core have the Wii?

Ok, I think pricing will be closer to R3.5k if we're lucky.

Core are notorious for profiteering almost as badly as Telscum

Considering what they've done for Apple in SA the Wii is pretty much screwed before it gets out of the gate. :o

As long as there's a support base i'm cool. Now I can go buy a WII from boksburough fleamarket knowing that we have a support base for when the boksborough shop falls apart.

You guys are not filling me with hope here, I don't see Nintendo giving it to someone who is going to rape the price. There where a lot of good companies in the running... please say we are not going to get screwed :(

Well, if they charge more than R3K for it then this long wait for the Wii would've been for nothing. FFS, the Wii is supposed to be the CHEAPEST of the 3 next gens.

Core had to tender for this - and Nintendo would not have said:

"yes, you can sell our machine for more than the 360 core, because that's "not" how we operate in every other market or how we have won the hearts and minds of new gamers... Yes, you can f##k the consumer because we've decided to test Sony's methods in South Africa, I mean it worked for the last round of machines here, right?"

Funny that Core is the distributor, what with their name.

I have to agree with Brevity, the pricing will be set by Nintendo worldwide and I cannot see them allowing the Wii to be more expensive than the Core, no matter what Core wants :)...

See this is why M$ are changing the name from Core to Arcade, they saw this coming ;)

/* Me points to Apple

You'd think so but they've done it before and with one of the more demanding companies out there.

Gavin do you know if they will handle the DS lite as well or only the Wii

The birdies are saying yes, they will be handling all the Nintendo hardware.
Games will be handled by the companies that have existing agreements with the publishers and should be priced accordingly.... Basically if Megarom brings it in they will add the profit they normally do which so far has been fine.

You have now been placed on my ignore list for ruining my morning...

//Damn can't ignore mods :D

Seriously though Apple's where never considered cheap anyway in the world so they can rape the price, the Wii is marketed as being cheap so it cannot be overpriced.. can it?

And the other Nintendo Products? DS Lite stuff for example? Is this just the WII or all Nintendo stuff?

Whatever the outcome, I'm pretty sure as far as bang for your buck is concerned the Xbox360 will still be in a secure position.

looks like importing a NTSC console is looking more favourable. Considering Core will rip us off with the games as well...

Gavin : Apples are not "cheap" but Core rip it off big time.... We're talking R4k - R6k difference between US retail price and our Retail price.... which is shameful....
