Locating 8ta towers

Thank you BBSA for the link, I downloaded it to my Galaxy Tab 8.9 and it worked perfectly. My nearest 8ta is me is a few blocks away, so I'm getting great speeds. Mast 65502 located near SARS, Hill Street, Ferndale, Randburg.

65502 is not the mast number. The 655 part refers to South Africa, and the 02 to Telkom/8ta. But yes, your location seems correct.

Sorry no Android, using iPhones. Looked on the site with my MBA, without an App, which shows a collection of flags for the Cell towers, they only have MTN/Voda on them.

What CellId are you getting? I picked up 1021x, 1013x and 1049x on my last trip past the dam. I found that the 8ta signal strength is never very strong. I think their beams are less focused than the other providers, especially with them not having so many towers.

Don't know how to see CellId on my iPhone or from E353 on 8ta. Getting good signal 6/3.5 pointing into somewhere but still no idea where the tower may be or if there are more of them. There's a Telkom site at Kosmos, which is more or less where I'm pointing at.

See if you can borrow an Android device, the app is very accurate.

Can you run Google Maps on the iPhone? Somewhere under the About options it gives the CellID details.

On the PC you can use MDMA to show the CellID.

Without antenna, just plugged into the Laptop, inside the house, -81dBm.

I'm on around -80dBm in my house. Getting pretty decent speeds on that but hoping to be able to up it a bit - I've got a TP-MR3220 that I obviously want to place as optimally as possible. Now if only I could locate those towers...

I followed the link to opensignalmaps but that doesn't show any 8ta towers in my area.

Downloading the android app now -maybe that gives me more joy
