Locknut removal

I tried hammering a socket over it but the protruding bit just sheared off.. .seems like that part was just cosmetic and the indented disc is what takes the force. Any suggestions on how to get it off?

Take a drive to your nearest tyre shop for some help..

Assuming you're able to drive on the wheel obvs.

Yeah I've tried , they all refer me to some mobile company from benoni that comes to you.

Then that's the way to go, as chances are they use that same company when they have the same issue.. They are unlikely to pass up the opportunity to make some money if it were something they were able to do..

Last resort DIY, is if you have a ring/12 point socket that can fit between the hole and the nut in the rim but not completely over the nut.. can try hammer that on as the points in the socket may catch enough of the indents in the nut to drive it..

Just pay one of those mobile bolt extraction guys and make it their problem. It will cost R700-800 but by the time you've bought a bunch of stuff and tried to get it out you will easily be half that and not guaranteed it will work.

If you have access to a welder you can try welding another nut or socket to whats there.
Once that's done best to use a large impact driver to loosen it.

No, the key does not look like that.. look at the wheel nut in the picture.. not remotely the same as the one you posted..

lol - as others mentioned you need the wheel lock. its usually stored in the "glove box" or inside the spare wheel well.

Otherwise you need to get someone to help you or go buy it at a spares shop, there are many variations, you need the one matching yours.

obvioulsy other harder ways to do it also.

not gonna lie though, looks like you sheered off an important part of it, gonna be fun...

if it were me, I would get a 12 point socket that just barely doesnt fit over and hammer it on, hopefully there is enough clearance.

fair, but imo its more important that you just place your ground clamp in the right place. Don't put it in such a way that current needs to flow through weird paths to get to where you are welding.
