Hello everyone,

only recently I got my hands on the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) (think that is the LTE version, no idea if it is important for my question). Oh and its with Vodacom.

Anyways I tried to update it to Lollipop but I got the message that my S5 is running the latest version and there is no update at the stage available. (Curr. Kitkat 4.2)

Now I tried to Google for a solution, but unfortunately that did not help either.
So my questions are:
1) Is Lollipop already available in ZA also for S5?
2) If not, is there a way to still get Lollipop? Maybe a workaround, which can also be completed by beginners?

I hope that someone could help me out a little with this.
Kind regards,

Poonky

you can download it from the sammobile site and manually flash it with odin.;)

Wow that was quick.
But would that give me any problems? As far as I understand it, it was released in a different country, and when I patch it on my phone it would run a Polish or British release?
Hence if would be awesome if someone who has an S5 and did it this way could just respond (and maybe give me a link to the file he used :D ). But I would be very happy to hear from someone who has done it :)

Install KIES on your pc, plug in phone, it will tell you which is the latest version of Android available for your phone. S5 should at least have 4.4.2, 4.2 is ancient.

Ah yes you are quite right. I'm indeed running Kitkat 4.4.2

I am running the British ROM on my phone and its great. I had all the polish versions on as well but this one is the best currently. Just go to sammobile, register and go to the firmware section where you want to search for the firmware for United Kingdom - BTU. The instructions on how to flash it on your phone is also there where you download the firmware. But its very easy.

The other upside to the BTU rom is that there is no Vodacom bloatware.

Hopes this helps.
Regards

Thank you so much, I'll probably download it tonight then, and hopefully by tomorrow its all up and running.
And no more Vodacom apps sounds just perfect.

@SYNERGY
No sorry, never heard of a Pooky

Hi, will it be stupid of me to download the Russia or India Lollipop Version for the Samsung S4 I9500?

What is the worse that can happen, no cellphone coverage?

I don't understand why people wait for our stupid networks to roll out the OTAs, when downloading it and flashing it yourself is far quicker (and not difficult at all to do).

I'm using the russian one on my S4 with no problems.

I'm running the Indian version.

In fact, whenever I see a new Indian release, I grab it. Never had any issues

Flashed my S4 with Indian Lollipop per your advice and never been happier. Like having a brand new phone and all it cost was a couple of GB and an hour of my time :-)

I generally prefer the Russian/German releases.

Battery life is worse on Lollipop.
