Long Distance Relationships

Well distance relationship can def work... was doing it for some some time aswell SA and Germany but i went there often for exams etc etc and holiday now we living happily in SA.
 
Done it twice, failed twice. So Brian, yours must be the only long distance relationship that ever worked on this forum
 
I had a long distance relationship with someone for over a year. I was in London, she was in Jozi. It was unbearable at times but we got through it. We're now married :D

It's easy to get too needy
It's easy to get worried if the needy-ness stops
It's natural to chat (or want to talk) to each other all the time
It's natural to ask (in detail) what he/she did the day
It's natural either one of you will get pissed off by all that
It's natural miss communication will happen, especially email/mxit/sms which will spark the pissed-off-ed-ness
It's natural to then break up.

Unless you see each other each week then I don't think there will be issues, but if the "long distance" is a few km's (I've heard people bitch about 20km being "long distance") and you can't, there's issues.
 
Id consider any distance that you cannot travel to to quickly go for a visit within the same day long distance. Eg. from PTA - Joburg = long distance.
 
Long distance = expensive as all hell with all the plane tickets and phone bills.

Did it for 6 months ... when I moved closer she felt boxed in. Broke up 4 months later using the "I still want to have fun while I'm young" line.

Chicks are car guards.
 
Its very difficult and frustrating...
But it will work if you and her really want it to work...

Oh yes, and very very expensive.... :)
 
Pro: Phone sex...

Con: You're probably not the only one she's doing it with.
 
why get into a relationship in the first place... defeats the whole purpose of having a relationship with someone. when i start a relationship the idea is to get close to the person not distance myself from them... :D

that's the casual day to day stuff... we need time away from each other but not 6 months away from each other... them might as well just get a booty call for the regular service that's needed:D
 
I am talking from experience had a 3 year long distance relationship and the funny thing is she stabbed me in the back with my best friend which Ironically was also my neighbour. Am now n a long distance relationship again for 5 months now will c how that goes

Good for you, what's the longest you guys have spent together? Spending more time together can change your perception of somebody quite easily.
