I kinda have the same issue with parents piercing their baby daughter's ears whilst they're like 4 months. Why the fsck do that? Wait until the child can decide for themselves if they want their earlobes pierced for earrings or studs.

My mom said i would have looked like fiela se kind if i had long hair. No one would have been able to come near me with a brush.

I had short hair until I started school. And have had long hair ever since. I just don't have the time to spend getting short hair back into a style. Long hair is easy: brush, tie up

Me too! I have only had short hair once since grade 6! I hated it every moment. I have to add that my mother had my hair cut in "spikey style" so i had no styling to do back then

they don't even cut her nails. I started cutting it, and they nearly flipped. So I stopped. But then she started biting her nails when it became too long. Her toe nails looked horrible. They would tear and bleed because they were so long (curled over front of toe).

Child neglect on the parents part?

When I take my daughter to school, her hair will be in a pony, not a great pony, but done nevertheless. That detangling spray works wonders!

As to long hair, I guess it is preference on the parents part. Perhaps I am old fashioned but I love my daughters long hair. Good for bonding too as my wife and her will spend hours making princess hairstyles.

lil girl I'm looking after will be 2 in sep. Her dad insists she must have long hair. But every day is such a struggle with the hair. The mom just sends the brush, elastics and clips to school so that I can do her hair.

I don't mind at all. But even though I work gentle with her, she always cries.

Why can't they just cut her hair in a pretty short style till she is older??

Surely this borders on child abuse, or at least neglect? This is what really bugs me. You need a license to drive a car but anybody who can steek and find a willing partner can have a child. There should be a mandatory exam before you are allowed to have childen.

luckily my daughter doesn't play dolls (not that she doesn't have). She prefers to play "donkey-donkey" with her lil brother. or play with her ponies

Touching on the subject of child neglect - why can't they set a fixed limit of two children per household (if the parents are poor) and then sterilize both parents on the state's expense? Cry out that it will be against these parent's rights to have children - but who will be influenced more - the unhappy children without food, clothing or proper care, or the parents?

At last a real issue being discussed! I think it is disgusting that some parents dress their babies, as that is what they are still, as ladies. Earrings should not be allowed before the age of 16 at least! Then you get the 5/6 year olds that get dressed in mini skirts, high heels etc. DISGUSTING!

As regards hair, my brother and I only had our first hair cuts around our second birthday I think. There are plenty photos of us with long hair... and it was usually always brushed! The issue lies not with the long hair but with the apparent parental neglect!

I don't mind at all. But even though I work gentle with her, she always cries.

It's because mommy and daddy want their little girl to look like one.

Here is a tip for brushing long knotted hair: start brushing/combing the knots out at the ends and work your way up. Then, once you are done plait it so it doesn't knot during the day.

I personally think that the parents shoild do this before dropping her off though. It's like the parents who drop their kids off in dirty nappies from the night before and still wearing pygamas. What is wrong with them?
