Looking for a good solid streaming box that's easy to setup & use, decent remote, something that can take an internal HDD. Will be connected directly to tv, option to stream wireleslly to second tv as well as audio amp for music/radio via rca outputs, so handle content for 3 or different streams at once.

To be use for pay services and open access EU stuff (mostly german, austrian & swiss).

It must be a good quality off the shelf product, money is not much of an issue for the guy.

Thanks!

Off the shelf solution.

If you want all the functionality as plug and play I don't think that's going to happen.

Android boxes could work but no internal HDD, same with Roku/FireTV etc.
NUC or HTPC can do most of it but will require setup.
Maybe "media players" like the WDTV type things but I refuse to touch those so can't really advise.

Nothing will have a built in amp though, most will have 3.5mm out which can then be used to the RCA in's of an amp for the radio stuff or USB/optical to a DAC/amp combo.
Can't advise on the PVR aspect either as these type of boxes aren't really designed around that AFAIK. What is he planning to PVR?

The "option to stream wireleslly to second tv" limits you to a device that can cast to a chromecast(if you want to show the same thing on 2 TV's) or plex(if you want transcoding of local files on the device and play thru the 2nd TV's app), unless you mean share local files so another TV can play from it then you'll need the NUC/HTPC route with fileshare(sure Android can share files but never tried it)

Not looking for built in amp, just independent audio out to feed into a external amp for radio/music.

Ok pvr/recording is nor required according to the guy.

They have two tvs and would like to watch different streams on the two tvs, watching the same stuff on both tvs is kinda pointless.

What you are describing is a server with a media player for each TV.

They don't want to download content to a local box and then stream it, they want to stream live european tv channels directly from the internet.

2 android media boxes then, ask in the DroidTV thread which are the best ones currently available in SA, money no object get a Nvidia Shield.

Not seen that before on one device. TV tuners not going to help since obviously those channels aren't broadcast here. So yeah, you're going to need multiple streaming devices and a solid network behind them. Plus some fiddling (probably frequent fiddling) with VPN's and such to keep the data flowing. It's not likely to be a one time setup.
