I'm using a Raspberry Pi 3 with Kodi as a home entertainment system binge watching machine. As my collection of movies and TV series increases, I'm adding another USB harddisk. This means that the power requirements now exceed what my old USB hub can supply.
So I'm looking for a good USB hub that will let me attach at least four (4) USB harddisks to my RPi. So it should be able to supply at least 2A (seeing as one USB harddisk is rated at 500mA nominal power consumption). However, the hub must have backpowering protection, or it may fry the Pi (or at least its USB subsystem) as soon as the Pi's power supply goes down before the one on the USB hub does.
Offerings in South Africa seem to be limited, though. Suggestions, anyone? All pointers would be appreciated!
Tnx!
