:cry:I seem to have acquired/created many duplicate folders on my PC operating Windows 7.
Only my wife and I use it and we are not experts and continually having trouble locating where something has been filed.
It has also become very SLOW even after performing a disk cleanup.
Any assistance/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it could be a possible virus.

Run combofix - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/
Run adwarecleaner - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
Install and run Malwarebytes - https://www.malwarebytes.org/

afterwards you are going to want to delete the duplicate folders by right clicking on them and clicking delete..
the search function on windows 7 is very powerfully if you know what the name of the folders or files are. simply type the name into the search bar after clicking start (bottom left) click on the results which will open the folder and display where on the hard drive its sitting in the address bar at the top. if its a file, like a picture for example then you will need to right click on the picture and click "open file location"
