With Cataclysm hitting in about 6 months (or longer) I was hoping to get a guild who not only raided, but also runs through old content for achievements.

Now I've joined some guilds who CLAIMED they do those things, but each time I ask or want to get a group together nobody is interested.

And I'm not looking to join a hardcore raiding guild who runs each and every night because sometime I just play because I *feel* like playing, not because there's some kind of addiction driving myself.

Now I have game time this month, which will most probably stop if I feel I'm getting nowhere as I'm busy achievement-hunting so to speak and would love to build up some raiding experience as well.

Come Children's Week next month I'd have my drake... and I've already grinded out 6 exalted reputations... and I'm busy with a lot more for Loremaster etc. But there's only so much you can do by yourself.

So I will actually consider moving from my server Kilrogg, if that means I could be in a guild that actually aren't filled with a bunch of immature gearscore crazed, we'd have to raid constantly, this is my life - type people.

Lemme know if you find something like that.. Would be interesting to be playing with you ;)

yeah, let me know as well if you find something. Might transfer a char over to that server as well

whats your gearscore?

my guild is like that often we schedule our raids around peoples personal commitments. Were also very notorious and hated on our server for saying what we want. Too bad we only do 10man content and are more casual and way more pvp orientated.

Good luck in your search though!

I was 4 chiefmints away from getting my red proto drake in the "glory of the hero" chiefmint. My guild just couldn't care less to help out and of course the cross-realm pugs love tuning you "do it with your guild" when you're doing randoms. I've walked out of 2 of these before just because the okes were being so cocky about it. (even though my dps was more than the four of them combined).

I quit in July and only started again in Jan for a bit because I enjoyed running around on my zulian tiger and exploring places and running old content etc. It seems nobody's keen for that anymore. Then again in my guild's defense, they did schedule MC / BWL runs now and then.

I still need that one too. Would you like to compare chiefmince and we try make a group to do this? I know the groolz will be game. That's if you still play?? I think Wiz would be interested as well. :)

Alliance or Horde ?

If Alliance, try http://foundation-guild.com/

While not an SA guild, there are a few SA players in there.

I have been in a guild called Foundation on Alonsus for ages. They dont force anyone to raid, but when do raid, expect people to come prepared with having read up about the encounter, flasks etc. People in the guild are experienced and geared enough to do ICC 10 or 25 man. We killed Festergut last night on 25man for the first time. There is ample opportunity to raid. We raid Monday, Wed, Fri and Sun. We cant always fill a 25 man and depending if instance is reset we will do first 4 ICC bosses with less than 25 or VoA or whatever. Otherwise we just do 2 10mans.

Casual enough to allow people to just chill out, doing whatever. Some in the guild prefer not to raid and spend their time in battlegrounds or on their umpteeth alt.

There is an age restriction and we have guys and gals in the guild.

I don't think many guilds run old content tbh. I see a lot of pugs forming on Karazhan for the old stuff. Beware tho, Sunwell is still pretty tough. I don't we have had a pug that can clear it yet. Most people who want the dungeon achievements have them already.

When I was still on Karazhan I did a pug of sunwell that actually finished it, though if I recall correctly we actually cheesed that mint...was some time ago though.

Most level 80 pugs going to sunwell fail as soon as they need to think for themselves. Felmyst eats pugs for breakfast... if the pug doesnt kill Felmyst before she is airborn, its 99% of the time a wipe when people get mind controlled.

The one or two pugs I have seen, they save their bloodlusts and all their dps boosting cooldown abilities purely to get felmyst down before she goes airborn. Eredar twins is another encounter where the conflag ability EATS pugs.

Sunwell was a damn good instance back in the level 70 days...

Wow.

Am I the only one seeing the irony here?

Thanks J0n0, but I stopped quite a while back.

Actually in this case there IS a difference. Playing when you feel like it almost guarantees that you'll lag behind in progress. Doing irritating dailies to get progress awards is NOT fun and I hardly ever feel like doing them...and if you keep doing it despite it not being fun, it's definitely an addiction.

Hmm for me the opening post could've been phrased a little better. I read it as the OP wanted to join some guild that he would be able to run whatever he wanted with them and achieve his goals but he wouldn't have to make any commitments. I doubt the OP intended it to come out that way though.

The irony for me though is that the OP is accusing other people of addiction when I know plenty of people who raid/play excessively who regard chasing achievements as a sign of addiction/madness.

Well yes, exactly. It grates my ass when people complain about not getting in on runs/raids/w.e but at the same time aren't willing to make any kind of commitment. It's like, 'i want everything but i want it on my terms'.

Sorry boet. Life doesn't work that way. The okes with the good gear and cool titles got there by making sacrifices, much like the guy driving a beemer and a house in Sandton. The world (of warcraft) doesn't owe you anything. If you aren't willing to commit to your guild's raiding schedule then odds are you're going to have to accept running random heroics and the occasional pug raid.

If you're talking about joining a casual raiding guild, though, and are happy with a couple nights here and there and not necessarily having the best gear and progression, that's a different story entirely, and entirely understandable.

In order to make any kind of progress on the new content, a guild must have some kind of schedule. My guild is a casual guild, but we do have a schedule. Because most members have family comittments, we will seldom field the same people over the week. We raid on Monday, Wed, Fri and Sun and we try to give everyone a chance. This schedule will generally accomodate everyone at some point.

The guild is about giving all guild members the opportunity to at least down a boss or 2 in the current content. We achieve this. Of course this means that our progression is not so fast. Our ICC 10man raids now almost guarentee the first 4 bosses will go down. This at least gives members the chance to get frost emblems, if they dont need the drops. When we choose who goes into the raid, we dont only pick the best geared. Once we have 10 people signed up, we will evaluate how far we think can get in ICC. If the raid isnt strong enough to go further, we switch to Ulduar or ToC or VoA if its up.

We have followed this philosophy for over 2 years now. Yes we have lost very good players with awesome gear because we cannot raid with the intensity they want. When they leave, we wish them well. One or 2 have even come back. No one gets pissed off, because when they join they understand what we are about.

no offense, but we only raid twice a week from 8-11, and have about 10% to go on lich king 10man. You guys are whacking out 4 nights and only guarantee 4 bosses :X

Anyway, we are on Dunemaul horde side.

casual 25 mans might be an option in the future. But we were a top 3 guild on the server once before and no matter what people say it became very stressful carrying atleast 10 retards through ulduar. We will only go back to that if we recruit enough like minded individuals.
