I am looking for some software that will allow me to capture screen shots in realtime (record mouse movements - film) and allow me to convert it to AVI.

Any software you can recommend?

everyone uses camtasia IMO, so it has to be good.

CamStudio http://www.google.co.za/url?sa=t&so...273CAw&usg=AFQjCNHI7q4_bDKPrZzgUyRvuNi5MpRMVQ

I used it yesterday. It seems quite old (2007 IIRC) but it worked fine on an XP machine.

I informed the user however that I will be recording them (I'm sure there is a law that requires you to do this). But my main reason was that I wanted the user to stop the recording themselves once the error came up I needed to see.

This app records AVI by default, but also does SWF.

The file size was about 800mb for just over an hour.

I clipped the area I required which was just over a minute and it was about 11mb in total.

hm...on mac I use Macvide ScreenCap ...may be this prog will help anybody

snagit is another one,, i have used it for capturing screenshots....

You do realise the issue was resolved on the 21 of Jan for the OP?
Nice piece of software, if you want a bit more, though
:)

Mmmm I just use Ctrl + Print Screen then open paint and Ctrl + V.

No need for other programs unless you want to just capture certain parts of the screen.
