I'm looking for some to help me setup Elastix, I already have an old PC with a TDM800 (8 port) with 3 fxs and 1 fxo module. I originally planned on doing it my self and started about 2 years ago but couldn't get it working with my telkom line so I gave up and disconnected the box. I'm now trying to get it going, so I need someone to do the complete setup for me.

I have a single PSTN (Telkom) Line and a few FNB connect Accounts. I would like to have about 6 extensions for now, receive calls from the telkom line & the FNB Numbers, I would also like to be able to receive calls from the same lines..

I can provide remote access to setup the box or if necessary I can courier the box and then have it collected once setup, but would prefer it to be remotely setup.

If anyone is able to do it, please PM and let me know what it will cost. Its for personal home use, so don;t have much to spend.

Its not hard, just do it yourself.

I am about halfway through setting up a small elastix box for my office, tho I have done it a few times before.
I still need to set up the ivr, pin access, and the FNB connect account. I had it working on my previous install but it was shaky at best.
Still, its basically free so I'll give it a go again.

If you pay someone to set it up for you you will end up paying for support too, and since its a home install I dont think you want to be paying for that the whole time.

The only real issue im dealing with right now is that for some arb reason it does not disconnect certain incoming calls and ends up holding the port open. There is no call because I would notice that on my bill, but the port is still open.
It only happens about once a week tho and if the guys monitor the Fop then they pick it up pretty quickly.

I would love to see some kind of windows based software that can do the job of the fop tho. that would be awesome.

Thanks, I did think about trying myself again, I wiped my old install and re-installed Elastix, but was hoping to get someone else to figure out all the settings..

The last time I tried I had most of it working, only problem I can remember now is that, when some calls me on the telkom line it rings about 3 times on their side but my extensions only start ringing after the 3rd or 4th ring. I tried several things but could't figure out what was causing the delay. Because of that callers would cut the call thinking there's no one to answer their call.

For a windows based system, I think 3CX is windows based, I haven't tried it yet.

The joys of analog, that's normal the best and easiest way to solve that port your analog number to a good voip providor (I recommend Switchtel), since I did that all my analog hassles disappeared., inlcuded the random analog port hangup.

That delay is part of the deal with an analog line. It's just the way elastix works.
As Warwickw says, the only way to get rid of that is to port to a VoIP provider.

If you want to stay with fixed line you can also convert your analogue lines to ISDN, but of course that will require new telephony hardware like a Digium B410P.
Note: 1 ISDN line gives you 2 channels, so if you have 4 analogue lines you only need 2 ISDN.

If your only issue is the occasional blocked ports, then you could always setup a cron job to restart Asterisk every evening.

Thanks for all the replies.. I don;t mind porting, but that would mean extra costs as I would still have to keep one number with Telkom incase of emergencies where the pbx is down and the fact that I have to have a voice line as part of my Telkom line.

I decided to give it a go again and see if I can get it working.. Maybe to work around the above issue I could setup an IVR just so callers don't hang-up if there's no answer after 5 or so rings. Since I have a clean congiguration, I tried setting up my FNB SIP trunk as the the info from You (warwickw), in this thread . The trunk is registered but I can't seem to get my inbound/outbound routes as I can't make calls out/in to/from my cell number.

I first want to get my SIP Trunks and extensions working before I tackle the Telkom line and the ZAP/DAHDI extensions..

Here's my working config for FNB Connect I've set it up as a SIP trunk now

Trunk Name = 087XXXXXXX

type=friend
host=voice.fnbconnect.co.za
username=087XXXXXXX
secret=YYYYYYYYYY
auth=md5
disallow=all
allow=g729
timezone=Africa/Johannesburg
trunkfreq=20
trunk=yes
qualify=yes
qualifysmoothing=yes
requirecalltoken=no
insecure=port,invite

Register String :
087XXXXXXX:[email protected]/087XXXXXXX

Then on your inbound routes add a DID for 087XXXXXXX and send it to whatever destination you want

For outbound calls create an appropriate outbound route with destination of your FNB trunk.

Note, I've set the trunk to use G729 codec only, make sure you have one and it's working as I suspect FNB will only use G729 (needs to be confirmed)

Also when testing a good place to check for incoming issues is the log file /var/log/asterisk/full I do a tail -f on that file, then place a test call and see what it did.

make sure you country code is ZA in dahdi config or zaptel
check your inbound route to make sure pause before and is not set.

if none of these setting appear in the elastix interface, log into the un embedded freepbx, the settings should appear under inbound routes
