Looking to change banks

Not a huge effort, and the savings makes it worth every penny

Fnb say they they will move your debit orders for you but some places require you to do it personally like homeloan and cell acc, so keep that in mind. My SO just moved over to fnb and there was very little communications about the progress of the move but I kept telling her to vasbyt and she'll be pleasantly surprised once its all done.

Meh I moved all my debit orders myself, all but one required only a phonecall,my medical aid wanted faxed banking details and a change of banking form:mad:

I'm currently with ABSA and have been with them for over 6 years. Have a credit card and a savings account. The bank charges are insane and seem to be going up. For instance R14.75 to withdraw R1000 from an ABSA ATM. I mostly use online banking and have to pay for that as well. On top of that there's normal bank charges. In total my monthly banking costs go well over R200. This is just for 2-3 ATM withdrawals, a couple of transfers between accounts and about 5 debit orders/payments (rent, car, insurance, phone, internet)

I also have a savings account with FNB. Thinking of switching over to them or someone else. Is worth it to move and which bank is recommended for low charges?

With fnb you pay R32 to draw from another banks atm. With Capitec is R7. Choice is easy.

Just moved from ABSA to FNB this week. Was with ABSA for about 12 years, was time to tell them to make a like a tree and get the hell out of here. ABSA's bank charges are really absurd.

I'm with capitec for savings, credit card with FNB.
Once I get the credit card paid off, I'm moving it to virgin, they're also very low costs with good rates ..!

Savings with Capitec. CC with Virgin.
Both are awesome. I love Capitec. Everybody should have a Capitec account.

Just go open a Capitec account anyway and use it for a bit. Put some money in it and see for yourself at the end of the month the interest they give you and the low fees. Experience their Customer service and IB for yourself. You'll be closing your other bank accounts very quickly once you realise how great Capitec is. You'll love to have a bank that you don't hate!
