Hi

I'm not one to be pedantic but last night I experienced some shocking service from Afrihost.

I could not logon using my Afrihost account since 30 March 2010 so i logged a support ticket with them. Eventually someone gets back to me and says there was an authentication problem and it was fixed. Bare in mind i was not entering in an incorrect password. I had 1.9GB remaining and I can easily use that in 3 hours.

Afrihost have since told me that bandwidth does not roll over which I understand but what happens when the problem is not their side. Should I at least be given that extra bandwidth this month?

Afrihost: still waiting for a response from you.

Regards

chin up .. you waisted box of cigies and beer ....

besides, if you really feel strong about it ask for a refund .... i believe they are running double your money back no questions asked guaranty....

let us know how that went..

There was a problem and Afrihost fixed it. What more do you want?

I don't find anything shocking about this, or wouldn't call their service shocking. Would you care to elaborate on exactly which part was so terrible that it shocked you?

Their Terms and Conditions clearly state that unused bandwidth doesn't roll over. So if you left it until the last few hours to finish your bandwidth, then its your fault. You waited till the last few hours of the month, when everyoine is trying to finish their caps, when the ADSL network and every ADSL ISP's network is the most strained. An error occured, something went wrong. Too bad. Happens all the time. If you lost R58 worth of bandwidh due to an error or problem, tough luck. Deal with it.

No need for a dedicated thread to moan about it.

Toxic waste: Read again, I said from 30 March I was having issues. I did not exactly stall till the last few hours of the day. You know it would take a good gesture from a company in the spirit of customer service to make a company different from everyone else. I'm not being greedy because I can easily afford their uncapped service. All I am looking for a good service. Hiding behind T&Cs all the time will not exactly make a good company. Being flexible can.

This is a forum after all. If I cannot come on here and comment about an ISP then what purpose does it serve?

I'd be a bit annoyed too... if the bandwidth doesn't roll over, it's only fair to use it up in the last few hours. If they had a problem, I am sure they will refund you. I usually wait for and ISP to sort things out for a month or so before posting here.

Will remember this for next. This was my first real issue so the next time I will not be so hasty.

Sorry. My BAD for not reading properly.

You should've got in contact with them first to find out if a refund is possible, before flaming them here. Why does everyone always think the myBB forums are the first place complaints should be placed?? Follow the proper channels, and then if you get no satisfaction, or receive poor service, by all means, let us know...

Still waiting to hear what was so shocking...

Beware, seems you can not attempt to use up your bandwidth right at the end of the month either, i just lost out of 1.2GB which i downloaded [and completed] before midnight 31 March, yet Afrihost's systems decided it's April usage. So not only did i lose the remaining 1.2GB from March, but now i'm already 1.2GB down in April........

Also logged a support a ticket, so will see what their support comes back with, but that's really sucky how their systems decided i've done all my downloads from 12-2am [when i was sleeping] and did not pick up anything from 11pm-12am .

So you really have to be pedantic about these things.

I waited for 4 months before posting my issues with WA. This forum is a great place to call out ISPs but you have got to really have ammo against them. This is just a minor annoyance, and it's only been a few hours since it happened.

Why do people always want to use Telkom as a scapegoat? Afrihost's Radius servers kicked the bucket.
