RichardG's thread inspired me to share this:
the joys of love! Well, basically, I just wanted to share with you guys out there that real love on the internet really does happen. But a lot of times, it also doesn't work out...
I met The_Librarian in Aug 1999 on a forum (chit-chat). We enjoyed talking to each other thoroughly and decided to meet. He bought me a bus ticket to pta, and then whisked me off to the low veld.
Sadly to say, I cannot remember anything of that trip, as I slept the whole way
was tired from the overnight bus trip.
The weekend together was bliss. We just couldn't get enough of each others company. Every time he took my had, my heart beat faster. The whole roller coaster feeling of being in love.... Nothing could dampen our feelings. (And no, we didn't have sex, waited till after we got married.) He took me sight seeing, and all those memories are still so fresh in my mind. And he also bought me my very first cellphone as a gift, so we could be more in contact with each other.
I cried (and he too) when I left on the bus to go back home. Two months later, he drove down to PE in his car to spend xmas with me. And he met my family. My mom, especially, was very impressed with him, and couldn't stop telling everybody about "her wonderful new boyfriend".
It was very difficult being so far apart from each other. We sent countless amounts of sms's to each other. And chatted every oppurtunity we could (which was basically every night). His telephone bill was over R2000pm.
So I asked him if it would not be better if I moved to be closer to him. He helped look for a job for me. April I moved, and it was wonderful being so close to each other....going sight seeing. Sometimes going on an official date to a restaurant, or movie. But the time we just spent in nature, admiring the beauty, was much nicer.
Can't remember when he proposed though, but we got married 30 Sep 2000. We are still happily married.
Yes, some may say we were rushing it. But we never experienced it as such. He still makes me heart race, and the blood irush through my veins.
If anything ever had to happen to him, I would cry my heart out.
so yes, good things come with time, but sometimes they also happen fast.
