Local Alfista Coachbuilds World’s First Five-Door Brera
It may look as professional as something that would have rolled off of a production line but this five-door Brera is a world first that was created by a South African petrolhead.
The Tipo 939 (akin to Mercedes-Benz W or BMW E/F talk) served as the platform Alfa Romeo used to create the Brera, Spider as well as the 159 which could be had as a sedan or Sportwagon in the D-segment. Automotive designer of the century Giorgetto Giugiaro penned the models to wear the subjectively timeless front and rear fascias but the Brera was only ever available as a two-door coupe.
Brendon Scholtz endeavoured to fill the gap for something of a Brera shooting brake. Starting off with the sedan body of a 159, the Johannesburg resident meticulously went ahead to merge the Brera rear end to create what is seen here.
Alfa never created a five-door Brera, but a local petrolhead took the project upon himself creating a world first.
