Low fat milk

hmmm. In the old days if your milk went of you had sour milk. Now if it goes off it becomes poisonous

I read somewhere (Noakes possibly?) that some low fat milk has sugar added for taste or something. Reason enough to avoid.

True/Not true?

No i dont think they have added sugar but they do contain sugar

Low fat milk is a scam by dairy farmers to allow them to sell milk and cream seperately so they can double their profits.

You can see that detail right on the box, Skim/Low Fat milk has more carbs in it to make up the loss in fat (you can actually spot this on ANY low fat vs. standard products) . It really comes down to Fat vs. Sugar (or Carbs) , which do you think is worse? Admittedly on milk , the fat difference between 2% and Full Cream is quite small actually, so likewise the carb difference will be small too, it's more pronounced between Fat Free vs. Full Cream.

Personally, even though i'm not strictly following Noaks/HFLC diet to the letter , i have switched to Full Cream Milk / Butter / Cream as opposed to the Low Fat variants . Likewise for anything else, if i had to pick something, i check the Fat vs. Carbs and pick the higher fat one, or rather the lower carb one (obviously it needs to also come with lower carbs, otherwise it's pointless).

Now whether it makes me lose weight is another thing, BUT , a Cappuccino with Cream/Full Cream Milk is more satisfying than one that is all Low Far/Skinny/Foam , which in turn means i eat less and feel less hungry...which i suppose is the "secret" about this HFLC thing. People has cut out so much fat out of their foods that they eat these fluffy high carb stuff that just keeps you hungry and makes you eat all day long...

In the end it's all about what will make you eat less, my opinion ;)

So in short: Full Cream Milk for me, it is just more satisfying and filling.

You're pulling that out of your arse

Let me break it down. If there wasn't a market for people to buy low fat milk what would happen to all the milk that cream is skimmed from?

Also look at the price difference between low fat and normal milk. It isn't like the farmers are discounting the low fat milk because they are selling the cream seperately for a large premium.

Unless you can give me a decent explanation instead of just resorting to insults.

Low fat milk is around 2% fat, full cream is about 3.25%:

1: you're not losing that much fat
2: most of milks vitamins are in the fat so you're losing up to 50% of those
3: full cream tastes better
4: low fat(and worse long life) is more processed

Go natural, eat/drink real food.

4. is incorrect. Full cream and low fat are made by the same process.

Basically, they separate the cream out of the milk using a centrifuge. What is left, is fat free milk. Homogenized fat is then added back to the milk in the desired quantity to get either low fat milk, or full cream milk. So there is no difference in processing.

There is a negligible difference in the amount of carbohydrates.

Nothing wrong with long life milk. No chemicals added or non of the BS you guys spew in this thread.

This is what happens to the milk after it's received from the diary: It gets tested for bacteria and antibiotics, milk that doesn't pass the test is dumped. Trust me you want them to test it! Some fat is taken off to get the fat % right and consistent everytime. Then the milk is pasteurised, packed and off it goes.

In the case of long life the pasteurisation is at or above 135degrees that's why it lasts so long, because it's completely sterile. This process is called UHT (Ultra-high temperature pasteurisation)

That's it I don't know where the hell you guys get your facts but eish wena stop talking out your arses.
