So since I got my s8 from Vodacom and tasted LTE Advanced on their network with speeds exceeding 130Mbps I'm addicted to it. Nice low latency and super fast speeds.

I noticed that all networks say they have lte advanced but so far with my s8 I only managed to test it on Vodacom because that is the only network that worked with lte advanced so far.

Cellc. Lots of coverage but my device is just not picking it up.

MTN. Have no idea how much and where they have coverage as I have yet to see 4G+.

Vodacom. Decent coverage and very decent speeds too.

Telkom. S8 prefers the 1800Mhz band so does not connect to the 2300Mhz which has lte advanced.

MTN has LTE-A inside all major malls in CPT and probably JHB also. All major airports also.

They install "mini towers" that covers the building.

Sucks that their are not expanding that coverage. Vodacom has LTE-A In densely populated areas too. Rooihuiskraal, kosmosdal most of Midrand ect ect. 120Mbps on 4G+ with Vodacom easy.

MTN has good LTE though. I'm always on LTE and only see H when I make or receive calls otherwise it's on LTE and speeds are usually about 60Mbps down and 24Mbps up.

Cellc LTE only is a joke to be honest so was hoping to get Cellc LTE-A but looks like the coverage map is wrong or my simcard is not provisioned because I don't get LTE-A on Cellc even if I stand right next to the tower the map shows supposedly to have LTE-A

I am in Midrand, but have never seen speeds close to 50mbps, let alone 130mbps. :( iPhone 7 Plus

I'm not sure how iPhone displays LTE-A vs normal LTE but with the S8 it shows 4G for normal LTE and 4G+ for LTE Advanced.

Vodaworld Midrand give around 100Mbps and Centurion areas the highest LTE Advanced speed I got was around 120Mbps but sometimes burst a bit higher to 140Mbps.

Those are all speeds on Vodacom with a 64k simcard cut to a nano sim.

You sure get around hehe.

I have never seen 4G+ on my phone. :(

Guess Vodacom have not gone LTE-A in the more southern areas of Joburg.

Earlier this year I confirmed that the iPhone still only displays 4G, so no sure way to tell. I was testing the Cell C LTE-A. My sim is also 64k, but I did n sim swop, not that will make a difference. I am more towards buccleuch side, maybe that's why. :)

Well if you reffering to Cellc they shows lte advanced in buccleuch. That's the thing with cellc though they show so much lte advanced coverage but I get none. Vodacom does not show lte advanced on their coverage map but I get it more than normal lte here in centurion...

I think the issue here is that the S8 might not support 4G+ on the band that Cellc has it rolled out on.

Any idea for the iPhone 7 on Cell C ? Just realized that I never had LTE advanced.

Okay, here are my results of this morning. Sorry for large images. :o
All tests done with iPhone 7 Plus.

The tower right outside our offices.

CellC (Only Shows LTE on phone, but I was told it would stay the same for LTE-A)

Vodacom (Just shows 4G, not sure how LTE-A will show and no one seems to know)

I'll do speed tests Friday once back in Joburg but I'm pretty sure I'm at 30mbps+.

MTN LTE-A on S8 in Rosebank. Fast :D

damn!

Best I got was like 50mps at the airport :(

Yeah and that was on the Afrihost APN with a MTN prepaid sim too. Cheap data and super sonic speeds :D

Cheap month to month data with 60c per minute to any network. Can't get better than that!
