Is it possible? My iPhone automatically sets itself to lte.vodacom.za and when I spoke to live chat earlier they said I needed to wait for my sim to activate before they could enable LTE on it (I just ported over last night).

I was on an LTE area tonight and it switches to "No Service" which I assume means I'm not provisioned for LTE. I can't find any setting to enable on the Vodacom site - I am on prepaid though and I see their help says its not available for Prepaid customers.

I am on prepaid, works for me.
You have to ask to be provisioned though.

@ Blunt please read my answer to a thread here similar to this one. I am not sure if Vodacom has provisioned Pre- paid SIM's at this stage, contact VodacomData to confirm this. Hope this info is some assistance. :)
Edit:- Sorry I see that VC does support LTE on Pre-paid see here.

To access and activate the LTE service you will need to:

Be a Vodacom customer (LTE is available to Contract, Top-Up and Prepaid customers)
Have an LTE capable device/modem and/or LTE capable handset that operates on the 1800MHz frequency band – Click here for a list of supported devices
Have a 64k or a 128k SIM in the device and as a Primary SIM card
Have the free LTE service activated on the SIM in the device
An SMS will be sent confirming the activation of the LTE service
Set the phones’ APN to lte.vodacom.za (You may need to reboot your phone)
if you are a Vodacom Business customer, please set the APN to your corporate’s APN.
Set the network mode on the device to automatic
You must be in an area that is covered by the Vodacom LTE data network

I've been told by VodacomData and the Vodacom shop that I am on LTE though when I log in to the Vodacom site under my active services I see nothing about LTE. When I'm in an LTE area my phone goes to "No Service" but my APN is lte.vodacom.za and when I'm not in an LTE area or if I disable 4G on my iPhone it works without any issues.

Clearly I'm not actually enabled on LTE - I received no SMS confirming it and it's not active under my active services.

re-synced profile please test .

I see this under my profile even though I don't have any LTE coverage but it looks like its activated.... I think that it should be like that for LTE to work but obviouslly I can not confirm this.

Thanks VD. My services now show the two LTE's that @cavedog has in his screenshot - they were not there before.

Unfortunately my offices are in Woodstock so no LTE coverage to test with - I'll go by CBD this evening to test.

All sorted thanks VD.

Got my "4G" near Green Point - but strangely enough my 3G speedtest totally pwned the one when I was on 4G.

3G in CT CBD - 21.87MBit down, 2.36MBit up
4G in CT CBD - 6.05MBit down, 0.30Mbit up

No problem , this should be other way around but it could that you were connected to HSUPA/HSDPA.
