Watching the Stormers play today made me realize how much the South Africa hates Luke Watson. The booing from the crowd and the punches from the other players.
I love seeing fights in rugby :)
What are your views on Luke?
 
Well as a human being and Stormers fan I'd like to go out on a limb here and say that he does not deserve to be punched, booed, or disrespected.

But I can't.
 
It's actually pretty sad. On the one hand he should've kept his mouth shut and keep on playing good rugby (not 1 bad game the whole Super14). On the other hand the crowd reaction is/was understandable due to his comments about the Green, but I thought by now they would've gotten over it. Wife (Born and bred Freestater) and I actually joked that, being in Bloem, they probably just heard his Bok jersey comments now :D I'm not a Luke Watson The Man fan, but as a rugby player I have no problem with him

I'm loving him more and more every game... To be playing like he is and stuffing it to the crowd, awesome stuff... Everyone has an off day at work, maybe the Bok jersey comment was one of those days... I've forgotten about that comment, because if he didnt care about the "Bok" he would have gone and played overseas, but he is still sticking around... I'm hoping he gets selected as a Springbok, so he can kots an the jersey all day long... It would probably be his worse "straf" ;)
But he deserves it...

If I were Watson, and I had to endure all this abuse he does in rugby games, I would have turn homicidal long ago.

Sure we all say stupid things. Some of us might say stupider things.

But for the rest of the country to go on like this, against him, is childish.
 
There are stupid things and there are downright ridiculous things. He made racial slurs and comments that are terribly unpatriotic and people are making him pay for it. He isn't just anyone. He is a role model to millions of kids around SA. He should be a bit more mature and intelligent about how he potrays himself while in the public eye.
 
I saw that scuffle he was in against one freestater. But that one cheetah who then came and pressed his head against the ground was f***ed-up.

At least Luke seems to have learnt the value of keeping his mouth shut and letting his rugby performances do the talking. He just needs to hang in there for another season. By then this whole "puke" business will be forgotten by most.

Seems to me you lost track of the rugby fanatics. They will never forget and forever haunt him unless he quickly becomes a rugby superstar.
 
Once he apologizes people might start to get over it.

The Stormers' record this year speaks for itself. A player like this (and it does not matter how well he plays) is not good for team morale.

Well if this is your answer then Malema should be judged by the same yard stick. Since he also says stupid things.
 
I'm sorry, but I am an afrikaner, and what he said about afrikaners in rugby just shows how much disgust he has for me and other afrikaners.

Each fist he gets in the face is like 100% total satisfaction on my part.

If he is allowed to say what he wants, then people are allowed to hate him and boo him as long as they want, its called actions and consequences.
 
Luke should publically apologize for some of the things he said. As a player he has put ears on some of the "Bok candidates" this season. Just watching how he dealt with Brussouw yesterday makes you wonder how some players tend to be easily distracted and forget about playing the ball...

Seriously bro? Are you fukken serious, you can't even grasp the basic rules of English grammar and yet still you want to diss Luke, not for his play, but for something he said more than a year ago. If you are representive of the boneheads up in Bloem then I'd wish he'd puke on you.

My apologies for bringing politics into a sport thread.

I realise he has nothing to do with rugby but my statement was to prove just how hypocritical South Africans can be. What makes one statement forgivable and another statement not?
