Luke Watson Thread

in this years Super 14 season..LUKE WATSON is currently rated as the best 8th man!! he is awesome @ the back of the scrum (Spies & Kanko r NOT), he tackles like a 8th man should (Spies & Kanko do NOT), he breaks from the scrums/rucks..& most times breaks the advantage line..dont even talk about how he steals & forces turnovers (again Spies & Kanko canNOT compare) no matter what we say about him..HE IS AN AWESOME rugby player..like it or NOT..i DONT like what he said..BUT I LOVE HOW HE PLAYS!

& as for the comment on look @ the stormers..lol..u r crazy! 1st of all we (stormers) have the laiziest wing in the world..stuipid scrumhalf (look what he caught on when he came on vs the cheetas)..dont even talk about Willem De Waal (what an ASS) & our props (mujati & ferera) suck..did you see how Brok & Blaau scumed yesterday..1st time in the whole season our scruming was good! + our captain getting injured..fullback injured (Joe Pietersen is great tho!)..Burger & Bekker getting injured..so i think LUKE WATSON should be the last reason (+ if you go to Newlands..NO1 boo's WATSON)

That's just sad ....... rating an arse like Twatson as being better than Spies and Kankowski  Btw, they at least play rugby ..... not the rubbish Twatson plays ;)

Watching the Stormers play today made me realize how much the South Africa hates Luke Watson. The booing from the crowd and the punches from the other players.
I love seeing fights in rugby :)
What are your views on Luke?

Think he is playing awesome rugby but as a person he is an ass. Also I agree with PdV that one player can screw up a whole team's morale and that the team dynamics are way more important than a team full of individuals (think the stormers have proven this).

Once he apologizes people might start to get over it.
The Stormers' record this year speaks for itself. A player like this (and it does not matter how well he plays) is not good for team morale.

+1. I would really think he would have said sorry I was a twat. Now please forget about my comments and look at how well I am playing.

Fool back.

LOL :D
I nearly fell off my chair :D:D

Seriously bro? Are you fukken serious, you can't even grasp the basic rules of English grammar and yet still you want to diss Luke, not for his play, but for something he said more than a year ago. If you are representive of the boneheads up in Bloem then I'd wish he'd puke on you.

Well done you just judged a man on his grammar  Because can not respect someone else's opinion, you are no better than those "boneheads from bloem".

Also what Luke watson said was stupid lets face it. 99% of the players did not ant to play with him, they did not want to give him his cap in the ussual way and they did not even want to talk to him. Nobody gets that treatment because they were simply misquoted

Ps diss is not proper english grammarboi.

What I find hugely ironic is that to the majority of South Africans he and his dad are heros.

The man is good at his sport, off the field he may say some dumb things...but most rugby players (and sportsmen in general) aren't known for their smarts now are they? Clearly the booing motivates him too (like it does Kevin Pietersen when he plays in SA)...which is dumb on the boo-ers parts :D

Watson for Bok Captain! Step aside everyone and don't anyone else dare wear the no.8. We need Luke. There is no better no.8. Watson FTW. And to all you snotty nosed boere who can't get over it, up urs! Do you want the best player or a bloody saint?

We need luke watson like we need a jersey with puke on, seriously if the WP loves him so much, you can all go have a group hug, leave the springbok team to those that actually win matches

Okay I doubt his dad is seen as a hero and he is definitely NOT seen as a hero.

Lol, you clearly know nothing about SA's political history huh?

To the MAJORITY (read: black) folk in SA he is a hero hence the whole Luke Watson/ Jake White saga in the first place. The ANC adores the man and he was a card-carrying member of the ANC and SACP in the 70's.

He was selected to play for the Junior Springboks but rejected an invitation to try out for the senior '76 Springbok team. He went against the grain of the white rugby establishment and played many a game in the townships and with black rugby players.

Wish South Africans knew their own history:rolleyes:

The Watson brothers also had a clothing business in Main Street, PE just a few yards away from the Security Police's HO. They were permanently harassed.... Before judging someone you should read up on their past....

Saw the match stats from the weekends game, brussouw and Juan's stats looked better than luke's... His game is so similiar to that of a flanker that you can not really compare him to a 8th man like kanko or spies.

His stats still did not look anything close to bad though.

The majority of people also voted ANC and thus clearly suffers from impaired judgement.

So you are saying that a white person who played with black people during the apartheid era is a hero? The ANC adores him.. So what?

The previousely disadvantaged Watsons have surely done well for themselves.
I mean Luke went to Grey, and trust me daddy Watson is rolling in it. Life was tough

What seems to be overlooked is the players actual ability, or lack thereof.
The Stormers seem to have settled into a nice place somewhere near the bottom of the log, can the choice of Captain have anything to do with it, just perhaps, after talking about puking on jerseys and the like.

I wonder.

Oh heavens - I just hope that pdv doesn't go and pick an all male squad. The mental image of him sleeping around may be too much for my brain to bear.
