yep. i get one day max from my S3. i dont play games on it even. just mail and calls (quite a few though)
 
'effing MTN, no update yet :(
Spoke to a Alice at MTN, bloody useless, told me I had to contact Nokia to ask them when MTN is going to release the ROM. I mean WTF!!!!!!!!!
 
Check setting > about > more info > it should say OS version 8.0.10211.204

Though you have check phone updates, confirm installation and to do quite a few manual checks and are you sure etc.
Then phone will become unresponsive for at about 20 minutes (After downloading) with busy working cogs on the screen.

You get the picture?:D

Thanks, the phone update something last night and I wasn't sure what.
Checked now and it is the new update.
 
Spoke to Nokia this morning, they told me I have to contact MTN about the approval of the update.
MTN says contact Nokia for update approval.

Bunch of monkeys! Going to "Refurbish" my phone this afternoon with the Vodacom rom seeing as they are getting the updates.
 
Ok. This is now getting ridiculous. Just got my 920 back from vodacom for the second time. They said they did a software update to fix the problem. But, this morning, my phone alarm did not go off because it had frozen. This is after the protico update.

I am taking it back to vodacom to demand a new unit. This will be the THIRD time the phone is going back. Having to soft reset the phone daily is totally absurd. A phone should not just freeze randomly.
my worry is that the replacement phone I get will have the exact same issue.

so, I wanted to ask about when you guys got your 920 and if you get freezes? My hope is that only the early adopters have the issues and the stock that came later corrected the problem.

I got mine the day after they were released in SA. If any of you got yours recently, as in the last two weeks, do you experience freezes and restarts?

Got mine on 22 Dec and had one freeze earler this week (but was changing settings on a new app and may have inadvertantly pressed the wrong key combinations).

On MTN, so no Portico update.
 
Got mine about 17/01. Had a few auto reboots, no freezing, in the first week. Nothing since then. It might be a faulty unit.

got mine from Vodacom.

The wrong key combinations? There is absolutely nothing that should ever freeze a phone. Windows Phone apps are very sandboxed, and so there is nothing an app can do that will effect your phone in any way. Even if an app locks up, you can press the Windows key and the OS will still be alive and kicking.

This is how WP7 was and how WP8 is. The problem here lies purely with the actual device/s.

What I'm saying is don't blame yourself - you should be able to press whatever the hell you want :P
 
My phone has closed down and restarted a couple of times, though no setting or dates have been lost, etc.
Don't recall my phone ever freezing.
Did one hard reset- (though using software option in about phone)

Got my phone on the 8th January. White one, stock on the box said shop got it on 31st Dec.
 
Btw - has anyone worked out how much data facebook integration uses.

I'm using about 15MB a day, (little surfing) and can't really place if its the facebook app (itself) or facebook integration in people that is using all that data?

Anyone else have feedback?
(ps as an aside getting a solid 30+hours battery now per charge - like 45% remaining at midnight)
 
Mine is still freezign after the new update.

Another question, maybe its just me, but is the space bar a bit smaller on the new firmware by any chance?
