Lump behind my left ear - is it a swollen lymph node.

And why are you calling yourself Jennifer Lopez... She can't sing, she can't act, she can't dance... Why would you want to be associated with her?

re

I have the exact same thing you've described. Also, behind the left ear.
I've had it for as long as I can remember, totally harmless imo.

sheesh porchrat, you're all sarky today.
That last post of mine was totally serious.

Realistically I don't see the point of posting here looking for medical advice. It is a really silly approach. We're not doctors. Well... except PeterCH but it turned out he was a chiropractor which doesn't count :p

It's important to go for regular checkups if you suspect any abnormalities. I have to go for scans every 6 months, as lupus slightly increases the risk of lymphomas. Last year I experienced an inflamed lymph node in my tummy, did'nt know that I had lymph nodes there. I just ignored it and lived off pain meds (Dr said that it was gall bladder spasms) , eventually the pain got so bad that I had to go to hospital....only to find out that the lymph nodes were inflamed. Even though I hated going to the Dr, I've learnt...rather get advice from a professional.
Again, it is important to go for regular checkups if you suspect any abnormalities.

Sorry about your lupus. I have a relative who suffers the disease as well. And for periods of time she goes thru hell.

Thanks. I have to admit that some days are better then others. It is a very complicated disease.

It was meant as being humorous.. you know HaHa. Maybe you should try take that firemans hose out your ass pal.
Humorous?? with an angry face... I doubt it. You were taking a jibe to get some personal jollies, that's what I think.
You need to take those Chinese bamboo shoots out yer nose mate...

I have quite a few lipoma lumps - one or two are unsightly, so will have to go to a plastic surgeon one day, so I no longer get excited when I find a new one, just annoyed because there is no way to get rid of them besides cutting them out.
Did have one behing the ear once, but played witgh it a bit and it went "POP" turned out was a pimple thingy.

Still best to see a doctor though, peace of mind and all that jazz.

The lymph node behind my ear swells up several times a year. Sometimes it can swell up for several weeks. After eating several crabs a few years ago it became painful to touch, itchy and took weeks to return to normal. It's been acting like this for 20+ years. The swelling can be caused by a new shampoo, eating seafood, colds, flu, a skin infection or even sometimes without any obvious cause. I wouldn't personally go for tests (particularly in winter) unless it remained inflamed without any obvious cause for 3~6 months. I would also try to see if the swelling would reduce after taking tea/supplements like chamomile, echinacea, fresh ginger, vitamin C, multivitamin etc. A strenuous jog which increased body temperature might also help. Definitely do not touch or try to prick it.

Wash the spot and see if it goes away / dries up after a week :p if it doesn't or gets bigger after a few days see a doctor else it was just a blocked pore for the node.. it could still be a blocked pore btw. Ideally if it is, you want it to subside and go away without doctors doing it manually intervening making an incision as this causes a scar
