So as we all know, Durban was the place to be this past weekend, loads of parties all over the city and of course the Durban July. Lat night was the annual Pop Bottles party. As I understand the story, two young guys took one of their parents E92 BMW M3 down to Durban from Jhb for the weekend, clearly a recipe for disaster.

Last night at The Pop Bottles party the friend of the kid who's parent owns the M3 asked him for the keys to the M3, long story short: he took some girls to the M3, pulled it out of the parking, went and had a revving competition with a Mercedes Benz C63 AMG, the exhaust apparently overheated and with that, the M3 met its end and was engulfed in flames, the fire engine arrived 2minutes too late.

Some pics of the M3 as it was burning below.

You can also check twitter #M3burning it was trending earlier today, shocking stuff, luckily nobody was killed.

EDIT:

...went and had a revving competition...

What the **** is wrong with these people? A "revving competition"??? WTF ? How can it be fun in any way to rev your car???

Kids today. Have they never heard of drugs?

The stupid one here is the dad, for letting them borrow a M3 for a party in Durban.
My brother's hobby is restoring Porsche's. He has a beautiful collection of vintage 911's, dating from the 60's onwards.
When his eldest had his Matric Farewell - dad finally relented and let him borrow the one for the night. A 1968 911 RS - Kermit Green in color. Besides - he had driven the car before and knew how powerful it was.
Sadly - the younger two sons will never have that pleasure - the poor kid lost control and terminated the entire left front wheel on a kerb.

My elderly mom's reaction to this was classic - 'I thought you were an idiot when they robbed you of a R150 000 Rolex. But now I know you are an idiot.' My brother's reply - 'Ja ma.'

I don't even know what a revving competition is?

First to 7,500rpm wins?
